Fender Precision Bass thread

Everyone knows that the P Bass rules all others.

To all the complainers about P Bass threads: Hey, it could be worse, someone recently started a thread asking what kind of underwear everyone's wearing...

I had 50 years of playing, 6 years playing rhythm guitar and 44 years playing bass. The last 25 years I played with the same band and my bass of choice as my primary bass (95% if the time) was my MIJ bootleg '62 3TS reissue P-Bass. (Bootleg because it was Not legal to export from Japan at the time it came into the country; previous owner's with was Japanese and he had certain "connections"). It was totally stock and I used Roto-sound RS-77s, but later switched to 950 Fender Flat wounds.

I had about 15 basses in my collection, 2 Mosrite Ventures models (1 & 2 pu versions), a host of Fender Ps ('52 RI, '57 RI, '58 RI, '59 CS/RI, '62 Fiesta, '70 Original Natural/Maple) & Js '62 RI stack knob, '72 Natural/Maple), a cute little Fiesta Red Mustang Bass that matched my Fiesta "Shadows" P-Bass version. Also a Tony Hunt custom-built, 2 Bass VIs ('62 Original with proto pu and a MIJ '62 RI) and Jaguar Baritone (these last 3 were not great "basses" ... but awfully fun players).

With all these to pick from it was my Bootleg '62 P-Bass first, then my '72 J-Bass. Sold all of them when I had to quit playing progressive nerve damage, particularly my left hand ... except for my Bootleg. It's hanging on the wall in my "band room & recording studio" with my second Strat ('64 that I've owned since '64) and a MIJ RI 3TS Jazzmaster.

I never found that I needed anything but my properly set up P-Bass, my 145 watt Hartke and my Joes S&S 1x15 bins (JBL ?-140). P-BASS RULES!!!
