Fender Rumble Club

Wow ok. It wasn’t even that loud, it wasn’t much louder than other people jamming around me and I was sitting a few feet away from it. Shouldn’t 350 watts be louder than that without the speaker crackling? Gain at 9 oclock and master at noon doesn’t seem anywhere near loud enough for a live band setting with a single 15. gain and master at noon was my let me test this amp and cab out at guitar center setting haha. Maybe the previous owner blew it or is this normal behavior?
Something seems wrong. My combo is definitely loud at that setting. Maybe the speaker is damaged? Any other cabinets you can plug into?

Something is definitely wrong there. Gain and master at noon (right in front of you) should have been shaking your stones! Also, try engaging the (vintage) button... but when you do so with the gain at 9 o’clock and master at noon, I would be sure your “bass” EQ knob isn’t past 10 (maybe 11) o’clock.

Played a used 1x15 cab today with a 500 head at Guitar Center and with the master and gain halfway up and all EQ at noon, there was a noticeable crackle sound every time I hit the E string, almost like a blown speaker. I had thought about getting the 1x15 to go with my Rumble 500 combo but this is a bit worrisome. How easy is it to ruin these speakers?
The Eminence 15" drivers are pretty damned hearty, and will easily handle a low B or drop tunings without complaint. The Rumble 115 you auditioned is obviously damaged. Any driver regardless of cost or rating can be damaged, blown, and utterly destroyed by pushing it beyond it's limits.

Fender Rumble amps have built in protective circuitry in the form of a High Pass Filter and the Dyna-Comp Limiter. This makes it nearly impossible to blow the amp or speakers. They are as "teenager proof" as humanly possible. To kill a Fender Rumble typically requires: 1) being thrown into the pool while being plugged in and turned on. 2) doused in gasoline (petrol to you Brits) and lit afire. 3) firearm target practice. 4) dropped off the Tallahatchie bridge.

that ought to make for a fast, easy load in and out :)
Yes. Except for also needing a mic stand, music stand, stool and 2 gig bags. Oh, yeah, and a bass.(I have a cart)

I wonder if what I heard was coming from the cab then rather than the actual speaker. Either way, it was an unpleasant popping, crackle sound that was not good.

Used my Rumble cabs for the second time at a gig last night (medium sized bar, 4 piece modern country/blues band). Not as deep sounding, as small, or as light as my other rig (Revsound), but pleasantly surprised. I only needed one 210 cab to carry the room, and the tone blended well. For the money, the Rumbles are definitely worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen!
I'M FIRING UP MY NEW RUU-UUM-BLE!!!

And, NO, this is NOT a stock photo, or a pic found on the internet (until now). I took this shot of my brand new Fender Rumble Studio 40! Yes, I've been gasing for a Stage or Studio since they came out early last year, and I've been rationalizing that I still have, and still use, a perfectly good Fender B-DEC 30 modeling bass amp (the granddaddy of the Stage and Studio, even previous to the Bronco 40). And, I've always said that someday I would have a Rumble Studio 40, even if I had to wait several more years for the B-DEC to need replacement. Well, life is too short for that cr. . . .

Today, my Rumble brothers and sisters, the prophecy is fulfilled! Yay, half a league onward, into the valley of Death, rode the Rumbler #600 to battle the demons of G.A.S.! And I did smote their ruin upon the mountaintop! And, verily, even now doth the Holy Grail soothe my wounds and slake my thirst for angelic bass choirs of heavenly bass hosts singing in various timbres and harmonics of melodious tongues, "Hallelujah! Hallelujah, in the highest!"

I've heard it said here, and I sometimes had my doubts, - I mean, my Rumble 500 combo has been just awesome for the past 4 years - but, now I'm a believer that . . . .
Mo' Rumbles Is Mo' Betta!
'Cause I can always enslave the R500c to the Studio to get the different tones I want for any size gig. Heck, I can even enslave my Bassman 500 w/115 neo cab with the other channel for STEREO bass goodness with 740 watts behind it!

Ah! Yes, indeed. I actually chronicled today's church experience here: Rumble presets and here: The Combo Club. And yesterday's Bluegrass Jam here: The Combo Club

But, I did intend to echo my total enthrallment with the #9 "Deep Rumble" preset here, but must have gotten distracted. :) I previously mentioned, in that same thread, my short affairs with the "Roundabout" and "Rubber Soul Fuzz" presets in my first trip down the list. And I know I'm fickle in this, so I can hardly wait to see which preset catches my fancy next!

I'm having SO much fun with my Rumble Studio amp!! :bassist: But I don't want to bore those who are totally happy with their non-modeling Rumbles. I tried to be content with my R500c and li'l Vox, and B-DEC too. But, for me, this brings it all together, with so much more.
... ...
Indeed! I believe this is the raison d'être for the BT on the Stage & Studio! And it is a big part of what I love about them. Streaming audio by BT is so trivial these days, but almost totally controlling your amp, selecting presets, changing EQ, from your phone or tablet?!? That's groundbreaking!!!

Good Sabbath, fellow Rumbles! Today's report of my Rumble Studio 40 adventures finds me still enthralled with preset #9, #9, #9, #9, "Deep Rumble" for our slow songs in church this morning. But, for our first number, usually the eye-opener, this Palm Sunday we played "Hosanna! (Praise is Rising)" and I used #9 for the bass A chord accents in the first verse, which got the keys man beside me a broad smile(!), then switched to #32 "Overdrive" for the chorus and rest of the song! Yeah, I rocked it!! :hyper:

I thought it was a bold choice, having such a fuzzy bass tone, and was prepared for the director's critique to, possibly, change it. But, as usual, he was more concerned with critiquing the singers' performances, especially his daughter! Then, too, the regular soundman, a bass tone enthusiast, got an emergency call to work in mid-rehearsal, and the fill-in soundman used his usual subdued bass setting. So, I bumped my Studio's Master from 9 o'clock to [gasp!] 10!! This, using the Post XLR Out(!!), so that it (negligibly) bumped the FOH volume, too!! I'm such a bad boy!

There are more raucous presets that may have worked, too. For example, I had #59 "Rubber Soul Fuzz" as the third Quick Access preset on the footswitch, in case #32 raised any eyebrows. I love that tone and will be looking for an opportunity to use it.

Ah, yes, The Tone Quest continues. Thank you, Fender, for facilitating said Quest in such a compact and versatile package. And, my beloved fellow Rumblers, I bid you to ...

Rumble On!

Update: R40=more than enough(G-8, B-11, LM-2, HM-2, T-11, V-noon, Vintage-in) OF's don't want loud.
R100 G-min B-11 LM-2 HM-2 T-12 V-12 Vintage: on @ rehearsal today.
In a rock-ish song I engaged OD with Drive-12, Level-10
Driving it with my active Yamaha 5-string there are sooo many tonal options even without touching the amp's controls.

We are a 4-voice+2 guitars+percussion (semi accoustic with mini snare+hihats+cajon+2 electric whadadoos)
Moar than enough.
Can't wait next gig @20th, won't have FOH support, but that's fine :)

Ok so I went to guitar center again and this time, I hooked up the 1x15 to the 500c and I wasn't able to reproduce the crackling sound. Maybe because I didn't need the gain or master up as loud with the two together. Had the gain at 9 o'clock as suggested here, master around 11 o'clock and I backed the bass down to 10 o'clock. The pair sounded so killer together that when I unplugged the 1x15 and played the 500c by itself and then went to the 200c and played it by itself, it just wasn't the same. That full 500 watts and the combo of the 10s and 15 spoiled me, so I bought the 1x15! $199, couldn't pass that up. Have to wait 3 weeks to pick it up but I can't wait.

Congratulations! I have the same setup. I think the 500c pairs beautifully with the 1x15 cabinet.
