Fender Rumble Club

Just got my On Stage folding wedge in the mail today. Yet to be field tested, first impressions:

Price: 20 bucks. Cant beat that!
Size: Tiny! Folded, it's the size of an iPad. 6"x7". Opened up, it's about 4" high. The item description says it tilts back (up to) 30°.
Stability: surprisingly good! This was my biggest concern. Grips are sticky, and its reinforced with plastic, probably. It was quite hard to knock my 100c off, would take a real punk rock kick to upset this on stage.
Decoupling: we shall see.....

Have not posted in a while but I had the pleasure of playing with up and coming Country Start Elizabeth Mary for a few big gigs. The biggest of all being that we opened for Clint Black at America's River Festival in Dubuque Iowa!!. As any of you know that have seen me post. I use a Rumble Studio stacked on top of a V3 Rumble 40!!! I connect these by going out the effects send from the Studio to the input of the V3. I found that setup on this site. This setup has worked so well for me this past year and it did not disappoint for this gig!!! The only thing that was weird is the FOH said it was the hottest signal that he has ever gotten from a bass. I have not had that complaint from any other FOH so I think it was a fluke or something on their end, but want to see if anyone has seen that from the XLR out. My setting are as follows.
Studio 40 I use preset 27 as it was set at the factory and run the volume around 12 o'clock on the V3 40 I run everything but the bass at 12: o'clock. Bass I have set at about 9. run out of the DI on the v3 to FOH. I do not engage any of the preset(vintage....)
Anyway wanted to get everyone's thoughts. I have included some pics and a link here so you can see what it sounded like.

Sounds great, but I have a question. When you say, "I connect these by going out the effects send from the Studio to the input of the V3.", Do you mean to the instrument input or to the effects return? If you use the effects return, you will save yourself having to set EQ and volume two different places.

Hi To the instrument input. There are no effects send or return on the V3 40. I have thought about getting a 100 for that exact reason.... but this has worked so well for me.

Speaker question.. discussion. Worth replacing the speaker in the Rumble200 combo? Am I expecting too much out of cheaper gear? This may get a little wordy and confusing, but I'll try.

Long story, but here it is.
I have owned my v3 Rumble 200 combo for about a year and a half. I think it produces a pretty decent clean sound at lower volumes. I have never fallen in love with the amp. I do think it sounds pretty darn good. But.. I never seemed to like it, no matter how much I adjusted the controls at higher volumes. NOTE: Higher Volumes is everything set to 12 oclock, gain, mids, etc.

I tried buying a Peavey 210 cabinet and added that. I bought another rumble 200 without the head (essentially just a 15" cab) and tried that with the combo. I plugged it into my v4 4-12 cab. No matter what, something would lack. I did get more volume out of it, but the problem that kept driving me crazy was the speaker farting out on the E string. I'm not sure if it is because of the actual speaker or cab construction??

I recently bought an old v4 head and had it completely rebuilt. I run it through the v4 4-12 cab. The Ampeg has a small sweet spot, but my god, when you find it, the Rumble can't compare. It is a glorious sound. I know this is maybe comparing apples to oranges. I don't think the Rumble will ever touch the Ampeg, but it would be nice to keep the fender if I could get rid of the low end issue.

I don't want to get rid of my rumble necessarily. I think it is fine for maybe practices when I don't want to lug this old Ampeg around. I also don't want to dump a bunch of money into something if I could just buy higher end gear (for a light weight setup). Has anyone else had a similar experience with the 200 combo? Has anyone upgraded the speaker with a higher end speaker?

Any thoughts?

First, keep on rockin' the free world! Love bassists who move! Thanks for the video.

If you don't know, the XLR output is POST EVERYTHING, including the Master volume. If you had that cranked more than normal (for the outdoor venue), you'd have a hotter DI signal.

I believe the new 800 Head can switch between PRE and POST, but I think it's the only Rumble that can.

EDIT: Dubuque. Home of a McDonald's Monopoly winner! And W.C. Brown/McGraw-Hill (run by my ex in the 90s and 00s from Chicago). I've even been on the river boat!

Thanks!!!!

Yep it is post. I do that on purpose as I use the pedal on the studio. If I go pre ( you can do on the studio) then the pedel has no effect. What I found strange is the thing is only 40 wat. Not sure how that effects the the xlr output but I know there was a big old ampeg that some one else was running direct from and I am sure it had more output than mine.

Small world. The gig was in the mcgraw hill parking lot in the port

Studio and Stage have both a pre and post xlr out and can be configured for stereo post. Master volume does not effect the signal on either as is the case with earlier models. The signal should be balanced line level. If it's too hot the mix man probably has it plugged into a mic preamp. I've had better luck using an xlr to TRS cable and plugging it into a 1/4" line input on my board.

Indeed, I still feel like I stole mine for $349
