Fender Rumble Club

If still had a back and was playing out, I'd "probably" go with the R800h and 2 1-15 cabinets or 2x10 and 1x15. Shoot, I'd bring all 3 cabinets and switch between depending on what was most pleasing for the music being played at the moment. At 67 with physical limitations, give me a 300W RMS 1x15 NEO, 25 lb combo and a Happy Meal.
With senior discount.

... ... Stuff has to line up, like pictures on the wall, or I go Bananas!!!! I'm overly Asemetric.....

??? I prefer isosceles? :roflmao:

Sounds logical to me. The points are well made. So, how to we determine if it is so, #1?

Thank you, sir. Let your ears be your guide.

If I didn't still love my R500c, Bassman 500 w/115 neo, and my Vox VX50BA, I'd "probably" get two R800HDs and two of all four Rumble V3 cabs, the 410, 210, 115, and even the discontinued 112! And I would use all that as -STEREO- slaves for my Rumble Studio 40, connecting all 4 cabs to each R800HD, which are enslaved from the Studio's two FX Sends. At a year older and still, somewhat, recovering from back surgery, I'll keep what I have and get a Popeye's chicken sandwich one day, a DQ Dude another day, some BK tacos another day, and the Big Breakfast another day! Mrs. Dog cooks the rest of the time.

Peace to you!

I've had my Rumble 100 for almost 5 years now. Mainly used for practice, but does a few gigs also.
Daughter borrows it occasionally as a portable PA for some of the activities she organises at the aged-care home. (And yes, she has booked my band to play there on 2 occasions!)
These current models have a great power to weight ratio for us older blokes!

After what I did to it last weekend, I figured it was high time I put my hand up and posted something about it.
I love its sound, but occasionally felt it would be nice to have a tweeter option for a bit of extra brightness like the 200 & 500 models offer.
Did my homework and settled on the Monacor img stage-line HT-30 tweeter. It's a good match from an efficiency and crossover frequency point of view, and one of only a few that would fit in the limited space in the top RH corner of the baffle. Even then I still had to make a flared hole and mount it behind the baffle for a neat fit.
The woofer rollof occurs just below 5kHz, so sticking with Monacor's recommended crossover frequency and slope (5kHz & 12dB/octave) are pretty much ideal. That made crossover design easy and did not require an LP filter on the woofer.
I took the signal from the woofer terminals so didn't need to open up the electronics section. The crossover was built on a solder-tag strip and I installed a recessed IN/OUT switch on the baffle as well.
Efficiency turned out to be a bit higher than the woofer, as you'd probably expect, so after initial testing I added a 5dB L-pad that brought it into line very nicely.

Looks like a cool mod. Like the way you were able to fit it in, plus even put the in/out switch. The big question is...How does it sound with the tweeter horn? Do you like it better? Would you recommend it?

Too damn funny

I have a question about the 800HD head, is how many watts running at 8ohms... or is it only a 4ohm head or something? I can’t find ANY info about its power besides it saying “800 watts” on the fender website
Invalid Link Removed choose Specs

  • Wattage
800 Watts (with 8 or 4ohm extension speaker), 400 Watts at 8ohms (internal)
  • Voltage
    120V
  • Controls
Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Master, Three Layer Buttons, Encoder, FX Button, Save Button, Menu Button, Tap Button
  • Channels
    One
  • Inputs
    One - 1/4"
  • Line Out
Two - (Balanced XLR, Configurable as Mono PRE/POST or Stereo)

One thing i don’t need understand is why the 800 head doesn’t have a mute switch. A lot of the times that’s been a necessity when playing live gigs, and switching around basses between songs.
An 800w amp designed for larger performances would make sense to have a mute option somewhere. A lot of other amps at even 350watts or 500watts have mute switches.

I don’t see why fender overlooked this very simple feature on one of the best selling bass amp series out there today. It’s almost funny considering all the other features it’s got!

Surely I’m not the first to notice this right?

If I remember correctly it's 400RMS@8ohms and 800RMS@4ohms and also 2ohms. I wonder what it puts out running three 8ohm cabs.

I don't need to understand it, either, but NONE of the V3 Rumbles have a mute switch, as such. They do, however, have an easily reached Master Volume knob that can do the same thing.

However, if you switch basses between songs a lot, and DON'T use the Overdrive, you can use the Overdrive button, or even a footswitch(!), as a mute by turning the Drive and Level all the way down. Read the original tip here.

Hope this helps.

You do remember correctly, Pulver. 400w @ 8 ohms (1 cab) and 800w @ 4 ohms (2 cabs), 800w at 2.67 ohms (3 cabs), and 800w @ 2 ohms (4 cabs). BTW, the manual says to set the impedance switch to 2 ohms for operation at 2.67 ohms or 2 ohms.

HTH.

Exactly right. The head is a frigging powerhouse beast and very easy to change the character of. Can easily get Ampeg SVT, Hartke, GK, and of course Fender style tones out of it depending on the Vintage, Contour, and Bright switch combinations you use.

And for a really tube-like hairiness, just turn on the overdrive channel but set the drive all the way to zero. It provides just a bit of hair that is very reminiscent of an Ampeg Portaflex.

For its price tag I don’t know how you could beat it.

Thanks for the info on the 800 head
I have researched a lot on the 800C and didn't realize all the differences between the 500H and the 800H
I have a 40 and love the tones I am getting
The 500C and 200C have great tones as well but was thinking if I get a rig to play out with I want to try a Head Cab rig as I have always gone with combos in the past and wanted to switch it up

So thank you very much for replying
