Fender Rumble Club

FWIW, I opted to go with the 500 combo with 210 cab in order to get the speakers up closer to my head, without sacrificing any coupling effect of having a cab on or at least close to the floor... Yes it will push the full 500w if I wanted but honestly, that's just headroom at that point... Lots, and lots of headroom...

I got the 210 cab so I could punish unruly band mates with very loud bass goodness ;)

If you were to get the 500 combo, you can run the full 500 watts with the 410 neo as an extension cabinet, and you will have the two 10" speakers from the combo.
You just can't be sure how the neos will blend with the ceramics of the combo, so you'd have try them together to find out. The neos are most definitely more efficient and will be somewhat different in tone, but those differences might be a good thing.

If $$$ aren't an issue, the new Bassman 500 would also be an excellent choice.

Man, that makes me want to put aside my civility and express in a new manner to the 2 guitarists I play with that yes, I could turn up my v3 500 and 4 ohm Barefaced 2x12 but really, we'd all be better off if, once again, they would please turn down...

Never hesitate to dish out the Fender Rumble punishment! Plus I'd really like to hear that cab ;)

Well I have my after action report on introducing my 200w combo to the band. Played with drums, guitar #1 on a tiny terror and a marshall half, guitar #2 on a 70's fender princeton, synth on a Vox VR and vocal PA. Zero issues with being heard in the room. I don't think the volume went past the 9 o'clock position - hell was even turned down twice. Gain at 10 o'clock, bass at 3, low mid at 12, high mid at 2, treble at 1. Playing a passive jazz bass. Big full room sound on the lower end, doing some Zepplin, had the vintage button on, and the sounds was amazing, the mids came out of the mix fine without being shrill or having too much bite. The low end was simply huge. Full room bass without being farty - just rich creamy goodness. Switched off the vintage and brought on the contour and bright for some Genesis. Great sound on the attacks, never felt thin or washed out, everything rang out. I didn't kick on the overdrive, may be trying that out next week. This amp is a stunner. Now I am really curious to hear this thing on top of either the 1x12 or 1x15 extension.

So Rumble 500 combo and 210 cab went with me to rehearsal tonight. I won't post much about it, because our rehearsal space has the worst acoustics of anywhere in the known universe. I've never had a decent sound from any rig I've ever had in there. What I can say is that it behaved as expected in at least one regard: It added a full octave (at least) to the low end, and it sounds, to quote a previous poster, HUGE. Another thing I can say is that if you play a fiver and like the low B, this stack is your huckleberry. Damn, it has a lot of low end!

I really can't say much more about it because the acoustics are so bad in this place (concrete floor, minimal carpets and drapes, one wall entirely glass, drywall, square room, there's nowhere in the room that the bass sounds the same. so wait until after Sunday when I have a gig- out door one, at that (which I love - no reflections). can you say, BOOM!

Here's a family portrait:

An interesting side note: Today was a big day for me with Fender products. Aside from the 210 cab, my new fender case (where my Geddy Lee Jazz resides, very comfortably I might add) and a Fender vintage bridge for the black Jazz showed up today as well. So, I just spent the past three hours playing though the new rig and setting up my black Jazz with a new bridge and a fresh set of Optima flats. Pic was taken before that, however.

The red Dean short scale bass is my 8 year old son's bass. It is a surprisingly playable bass, and has a nice deep tone going through the Fender rig.

I'd say that body language does not look good... :rollno:

Maybe if you explain that it looked lonely, all alone on the showroom floor?
Except that I ordered it. I guess it was lonely all boxed up in the warehouse.
Actually she's good with it, she's never had a problem with things I buy. She puts it this way: "I married a musician. What did I expect?"
I'm double-good with it, since I not only got a killer deal on it, but I also was able to trade in a cab I disliked a lot and got $50 more for it than I expected. Again, kudos to Sam Ash Sarasota for the exemplary service.

I am looking at a 200 V3 combo now...I returned the 500 since I didn't like the farty/growl tone I was getting from my low B. I am thinking though maybe I had a bad one?

While I am no expert, I can't recall anyone else reporting "Farty tone" with the 500 combo...

Having said that, I do read a lot about 10" speakers farting out with 5 stringers... Not sure what the deal is, or if it applies to the Rumble but there you have it...

I don't play a 5 stringer, so farting on the low B just isn't a concern for me yet... However like the weather,t hat is prone to changing over time... So I am hopeful that the farty tone is due to a bad unit, and not indicative of a design issue dealing with the lower frequencies of the low B string... I know I can stay on the open E string full tilt until my fingers bleed without farting out so not a problem at the slightly higher frequencies of the open E...

Yeah, I am thinking something was out of whack. 1. It was very farty/growly (but not in a good way) 2. It wasn't much louder than my Rumble 100 combo (1x12)

I use my Rumble 100 for about 50% of my gigs, and being I own a bunch more amps/cabs, I just returned the 500. Still though, I am looking to minimize my trips in/out (less you carry the more you make, right?) :-)
