Fender Rumble Club

To me it seems that the Rumbles may be a bit too dark for some people and they can’t or don’t want to EQ it properly.

I have a couple of GB class D heads that are brighter and cleaner sounding, but also have a Super Bassman (all tube) head that sounds close to the Rumble.

I may be in the minority, because I can get a decent tone out of most any amp I play through, but then again I am not afraid to turn knobs or use my ears and not my eyes to EQ.

I feel my Rumble 500C is a great grab and go amp that can handle any gig I take it too.

YMMV

I think part of the problem is people assume all the knobs at midpoint are a flat EQ, and that's not true. And yeah, I'll always spend a few minutes twiddlin.

Well, Hotty. Other than the tube snobs, there are the "beginner amp" snobs, too, like I once was. Those cheap-o, low power V1 Rumbles of the 2000s kinda set the bar quite low for expectations. When the V2 came along with higher power, but still low prices, they were still considered "beginners amps", yes, even by me! Then the V3 came along with the Rumble 500 combo for just $500 and I had to try to confirm my suspicions of cheapness. But that R500c sure opened my eyes and made me a believer! Sadly, lotsa people still have that "beginner amp" attitude and aren't about to even try a pro level Rumble rig. That's my answer to your question.
.

Fair point. I was distrustful of anything that powerful and light at that price point. But when others sang their praises, I tried one, and I've been happy.

Wow! 43,000 pages later! Rumbles are doing something right. Just paired my Rumble 200cv3 with my new Jack Casady bass and wow! Is there a better sound? I think not! Holy:poop:! After buying and sending back An Ampeg tube amp and a new cab, I will take the Rumble 200 any day! Over anything else.

Gorgeous goldtop, EatS. Now, I wanna hear you playing “The Other Side Of This Life”, from the Bless Its Little Pointed Head album... LOUD!:)

Gigs are in full swing here in New Zealand. Maybe the busiest I’ve been in years. Used my Mesa rig, which I love only a couple of times on large stages recently. View attachment 4091517 View attachment 4091518 But the Rumble 500c is becoming my go-to amp for 90% of gigs. So good!
None of the places we played have a house PA so we hafta provide our own. We used to run the instruments through the PA at one of our places, but even that wasn't necessary. The R200c handled that room just fine. In fact, the last time we were there, I used the R100. My big/practice amp* will prolly never come outta the house again.

I owned a Rumble 800 head for a while. While it is actually great sounding on its own, it just does not compete against some others. Its lack of definition makes it frustrating if you play 5 string bass. The low mids control just sound boxy an is useless IMO unless you cut that frequecy.
Those are the main (only) downside of these otherwise outstanding amps (for the price, keep that in mind). I ended up selling it and grabbed a Mesa D800 +. I might have kept it though if I only played 4 string basses.

The Rumble cabs on the other hand, are awful. The 115 is good, 410 and 210 suck.

À chacun son goût.
I own 2 Rumble 500 amps and a 2X10 cabinet and use them at every gig. I played through 15" speakers for over 40 years before getting my 500c 4 years ago. After spending a little time tweaking the EQ, I was able to get the sound I was looking for.

I have the 200cV3 and was just |_| this far from ordering a Casady like yours when I decided to do a build. Glad to ‘hear’ it sounds great with the 200

Nice! Currently that's about $55 U.S., so if it's in good working order, that sounds like a nice deal. Have you had a chance to try it in a shop, or would you buy it online?
It is for sale at the local ”musician net” [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
, haven’t seen it. Just sent him a message (it is to late here to call) that I’m interested. So might go and check it out tomorrow. He writes it’s hardly used, so it should be in good shape. A new one here is about 110 €.
