Cobalt flats are my favorite string. I really love my neon DRs because pink but you can't beat cobalt flats.
And I'm not alone in thinking that. They're so dang hard to find for a 5er right now!
The EB 50-105's are really good on this bass. They can thump with the best of them but the D and G string can really chime. I may give Cobalts a try though.

The Les Paul 5er came from the factory with Bartolinis. It's powerful and kicks serious @$$. EBCF's let it sing.
I dearly wish the EBCFs came in other colors...
No, I want the *strings* in other colors. In fact, a string the color of the purple silks would be awesome.

Just landed and did a quick test to make sure it survived the trip. Holy moly, this is my sound. Like the Rumble, but on steroids!Yo, munk, when you get your Bassman 500 try to find some time to post a pic of it in the Fender Bassman Club for a free membership! I think those Rumble 210s, either one or both, are gonna get the best outta that luscious head. As a Rumble 500 head owner you're already halfway there on exploring thr BM500h. The tube pre-amp, sweepable mids, and Deep switch are a few of the goodies you have to look forward to! Highly recommended.

I compared my R500c with my BM500 a few years ago and feel I've had the best of both worlds for a while now.

I feel so stupid! A few weeks ago I noticed a buzz or fuzziness from my amp. It was way more obvious in headphones so I tried all three sets that I have and they all had it. I thought it might be something loose on the bass so I put foam under the intonation springs, took the enclosed tuning machines apart and filled them with grease, raised the action and lowered the pups. Then, damn, I saw the overdrive switch pushed in on the amp. Turned it off and the sound is smooth as glass! Dumba$$!
It's very easy to overlook those little switches, especially if you're not in a position to see the little red light. Are you going to try to restore the pickup height, string height, etc., or just leave it be?
I'm going to put everything back the way it was. I liked the action lower especially.
