Fender Rumble Club

I have a Fender Rumble 200c. Has anyone swapped out the factory speaker with something a little more efficient?

That was the big thing back in the day, dropping in JBL's or Electrovoice EVM's.

I'm sure someone has replaced a 15" Rumble 200 stock speaker, but I don't recall reading about it. That is actually a 300 watt rated speaker, identical to the one in the Rumble 115 cab, even though it can only ever see up to 140 watts in the Rumble 200 combo. Most people love the sound of their Rumble 15"!

If you're searching for a different tone, you might start with putting various amounts of fabric, like socks or something, in the ports to see if that starts to sound like what you're looking for. If so, then you might just add some more acoustic lining inside the cab, like that referenced in the Rumble Modifications section of the Rumble Club Wiki page.

If that's not what you want, then check out the Rumble Speaker Replacements section of the Rumble Club Wiki page. I believe those links only mention replacements for 12", 10" and 8" speakers, but I could be wrong.

Good luck, bluey. Let us know what you find.

I have a question for this wonderful group:

I recently joined a blues/blues rock band (with very seasoned musicians) and we have been rehearsing and hopefully will be playing out live next month. We will probably play bars and small clubs, probably a lot of outdoor shows in the summer. I am pretty excited as this is my first band since I picked up the bass three years ago.

Anyways, I have a Rumble 25 combo that is my typical practice amp at home. We practice at the BL's home each week and he supplies an Eden WTX-264 head with a 4 Ohm 1x10 Eden cab, as he dabbled in bass in the past. My main rig is a Rumble 500 head and 115 cab, which should pump out 300-350 watts by itself at 8 Ohms.

The BL is questioning my Rumble set-up and is more fond of 10's versus 15's. I plan on bringing my current set-up for our first gig and if I need extra oomph, I plan on getting a second Rumble cab.

So the question is....should I get another 1x15 or go with a 2x10 for the second cab?

Has anyone mixed and matched the two and with what results versus the individual cabs? I wonder if mixing the two will provide the best of both worlds (10's and 15's)...

Thanks everyone!
I too am an Eden snob trying to make the Fender Rumble stuff work. I have found the Rumble 115 + 210 stack to work real good with the Rumble 500 or Eden WT400 driving it. I also have the ability to go with 210 + 210. But so far prefer the 115 + 210.

JEN, DID YOU EVER GET ANY HELP WITH REPLACING YOUR RUMBLE 10" SPEAKER?

ED, if you're talking to @Jen760, who previously asked about that here, she hasn't been on TB in about a year and a half.

Yes, she found out that her speakers were fine, it was an amp problem. So, she decided to keep the two 10" speakers in the combo as a passive cab and get a new Rumble 800 HD head and Rumble115 cab!

Do you have a Rumble you could show us, ED, and join The Club?

Hope this helps.

Hello Miles. I'm interested to know what settings you like to use on your Rumble 100 when paying in church. Generally speaking, I like a vintage sound with the bass and high mid rolled off a bit.

I only got to use it once in church, because the guy in charge of sound wants no amps on stage. But I set it up there like I do everywhere.

Start with something close to flat ( Fender Rumble 500 Frequencies | TalkBass.com ) EQ. Mine is usually 10:30, 1:00, 1:30, 10:30 to start with, and I change it only if necessary. I have Vintage & Bright pushed. So it sounds like we're on similar pages!

I have an EQ pedal set to roll off highs when I just want low end. I play Thunderbirds, and generally just use the neck pickup at church for the styles of music we play and the instrumentation we have on stage.

It was actually my first gig with this band, joined them earlier this year (I’ve played with the vocalist/guitarist and keyboard player in various formations in the past). We play blues and traditional rock.

Here is the set list for last night.View attachment 4338250

I *love* that you're playing some less well-known Skynyrd!

For some reason, I don't remember much about my bass rigs of the 60's. I went through quite a few. I had a 2x15 Silver Combo of some kind. Probably a Kalamazoo bass rig with my K bass ( if they made bass amps), and a V4B with 2 cabinets. Amazingly, the V4B was not loud enough.

Kalamazoo made bass amps, but only 30W and 50W models. Both used 2x10 speakers.
