Make it a combo with an effects loop, especially another Rumble, and you're set for expansion!

So this weekend coming up, my 2 Rumble v3 210 cabs are finally getting the speakers replaced. I talked about it over a year or so ago when I blew 1 speaker and had a hell of a time finding replacements. One of the fellows at Fender sent me 1 that he took out of a dead 500 combo and sent it for free.
I had a long talk with Eminence about what is a good speaker replacement since they aren't allowed to give the specs on the stock Fender speaker. The fellow I spoke with recommended the Delta 10 16ohm for the 210 cabs. I bought 2 and have been sitting in the boxes ever since. Fast forward to early August, loaned out both cabs to a fellow bass player here. The oldest h cab now has toasted speakers and the new one is on the verge of going. I knew this would happen, didn't care as I had replacements ready. But didn't think the 2nd cab would go down too. He was only using his Rumble 500 combo with each cab for a weekend and that's all it took.
So I'm hoping the Deltas will sound good. They are very mid focused speakers, so here's hoping. When it is done, they will be rated 8ohm and very real 700w each. 1400w total. Let's hope the Rumbles don't eat them anymore.
I'll report back. I'll A/B the stock one that is still somewhat good with the Delta cab before I totally redo them.
Wow...I'm interested in the circumstances behind this one. I mean, what are the chances that one person could get two defective cabs? I haven't read of any common occurences in this thread.
Not defective, just the speakers not holding up. I personally think they over rated for what they really are, as in they are rated for more watts than they can really handle.
Right now, Eminence Delta 10's @16ohm. They are rated @350w each. This was the recommendation from the fellow @Eminence I spoke with. He wasn't able/allowed to give me the full specs on the ones they build for Render for the Rumble series. But he said these Delta 10's are the closest to the original you will find off the shelf. From the specs, the Deltas are VERY mid driven in the frequencies. This is interesting. I wonder what others have found and, more importantly, what you will replace the speakers or entire cabs with? Please keep us posted.
Interesting. I've never had any Rumble higher than noon GAIN or VOLUME. I take the one that fits the room/gig. So that's 40, 100, or 200c. We never have PA support but we're also playing for a 55+ audience that doesn't want loud. No speaker problems on any. The 200c is now 6 years old. The 40's about 5 y/o and the 100 is maybe 3+ 1/2(?).This is interesting. I wonder what others have found and, more importantly, what you will replace the speakers or entire cabs with?
