... ... the idea of a Stage 800 head [is] far fetched. I mean, one would think the tones of the different models & sims are tailored to sound the way they do with the accompanying speakers & cab design. Can you imagine how different those models would sound with all the variations of speaker cabs out there. ... ...
That's exactly the point I made to someone recently, ... until ... hmmm ... I thought about ... guitar modeling heads! Yeah, what's up with that!?! Come on!!
So, why should bass modeling heads be so far fetched? ... or even so rare?? I mean, is guitar tone less important than bass tone??? ... to guitar players, I mean. (Yeah, it might be to bass players.
I also think a non-modeling Rumble 400 HD, li'l brother to the 800 with all it's improvements, would be a good seller! 250-ish watts at 8 ohms would handle a lot of different sized gigs. And 400 watts at 4, or 2.67 or maybe even 2 ohms!! Forgetaboutit! Or at least down to 2.67 ohms, come on! Even just three 8 ohm cabs pumpin' out 400 watts should be plenty SPL for almost anything.
And I'm gonna keep on beatin' the drum for an ultralight Rumble 212 cab to handle at least 400 watts continuous, preferably more, to safely work solo with the Stage 800 and R800 HD. OK, yeah, I'm too old and back too weak to lug it, but lotsa people would absolutely love it! I see a lot of TBers around here with 212s from other manufacturers. Why not a Rumble?
I also miss the idea of the discontinued Rumble 112! But, if they're not gonna bring that back, then how about a revamped Rumble 115 to better match the size of the 200c and 500c? How many OCD Rumblers reject the current wider 115, which was built to match the 410? (Answer: a lot!) While they're at it, upgrade the speaker in the revamped 115 to handle 400 watts continuous (or at least 350 like the 210!) so that it can safely work solo with the Stage 800 or the R800 HD. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
My 2¢.
