Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Joe, start now reading the manual in the Stage & Studio Links section of the Rumble Club Wiki page, linked in my signature. And consider getting the 4-button or 7-button footswitch to make many of the functions SO very much easier, even easier than the TONE App, and that's saying a lot! But, of course, the TONE App for your smartphone is an absolute must do. Read about it in the TONE App Support section of the Rumble Club Wiki, especially The DROOPY_TX Preset Experience sub-section with DETAILED Presets Listings and the Presets Decoder Files.

Yeah, it seems like a lotta homework. But it's the key to understanding your Studio 40 and will make f___ing* around with it even more fun!

Very wise, G’Dog, displaying GP’s trademark. I don’t wanna have to bail you out of the Gulag.

I'm a old school tube guy, I like having a big rig behind me and a good stage volume. My "small rig is a Orange TB500 with two 1x15 cabs. Having said that I have found myself in need of a small powerful combo with a vintage tone I could work with.
I had bought my son a Rumble 200 combo and was pretty impressed with it, I even used it for some gigs, I promptly blew the speaker and replaced it with something more up to the task, now he has a Super Rumble! Based on my experience with his amp I bought the Rumble 500 head as a backup, I just toss it in my cable case, it's saved me more than once.
So when it came to buying a small powerful combo I looked at the 800 Rumble Stage and really liked what the amp offered. Once it arrived I and I tried it I knew I had made a great choice. The presets are fantastic and it emulates all my favorite amps, Orange, Marshall, Hiwatt etc. yes I have the real deals to compare it with. Loud ? You bet. Volume you can feel this little thing moves serious air, the two tens seem up to the task, personally I like 12s and 15s but it's a small price to pay for the portability.
I have not used it live yet but at TSR the songs remain rehersals it performs great. It was pricey but I think it is well worth it.

Congrats on your purchase, got59! I too own the S800 and enjoy it like you. I have gigged with it, although with an acoustic worship band, but as you can understand, it was like bringing a howitzer to a pea shooter fight. It fit in beautifully as I kept the volume reduced and complimented the band. Fantastic tones that I preset and easily moved to via the pedal.

Today, you need to two things: show off your Stage 800 by taking a great picture of it and then posting it to 1) The Rumble Club and 2) The Combo Club. We’re both lovers of Fender amps and enjoy a great camaraderie. Plus, I’d enjoy typing your name on our membership list! Think about it.

Rumbler #1175! Good to hear from you again! [That's right, @iagtrplyr, he joined back in February. ;)] Are you still rockin' preset #35, Basic Orangey Dirt, as last reported? Or do you have some alternate favorite(s).

Wow! How did you manage to blow the speaker in the Rumble 200 combo? :woot: Last we heard here that's the same 300 watt rated speaker as in the 115 cab! And all Rumbles have the Delta-Comp Limiter circuit for protection. Some call them almost teenager-proof! Hope it was at least fun doing it! What replacement speaker did you put in it?

And it's always good to hear from such dedicated tube fans that the Rumble models compare favorably with the real deals! You'd said earlier that the Rumble Stage 800 probably wouldn't replace your big rigs. Is that still the case? Have you added a cab, or two, to the Rumble to get the full 800 watt headroom and more SPL? Please tell us more of your Rumbling journey, oh great thunderous one!

PS: The Combo Club is also a fun group of bassists. Highly recommended.

Blown speakers are a part of life for me . I go through drivers on a pretty regular basis. I replaced it with a 400w Eminence Delta 15. I use these drivers quite a bit either the A or B variant depending on ohms. Under 100 bucks each they sound good and can take a pretty good beating. Use of feedback and my Big Muff are most likely the culprits of my blown speaker syndrome. I'll put the butt of my headstock on the cab and get howling feedback, I'll be pushing on the headstock altering pitch, great fun but it takes it's toll.
As of yet it hasn't replaced my big rigs but it is nice to know I have the 800 in my back pocket.

As I’ve said many a time, don’t let the power of polka music trick you into thinking it can’t damage good quality equipment.

Does anyone know if one or a mix of the effects in the Tone app can give me something similar to the infinite sustain latching effect of the Freeze pedal by EHX (or the Plus Sustain pedal)?

So far I've been unable to coax a seamless drone out it, though I've far from exhausted the possibilities, I'm sure. I've gotten pulsing drones, and glitching drones, but not a nice straight-up droney drone.

Does anyone have experience using the stereo effects loop on their rumble? I'm picking up a TC Mimiq multitracker which has stereo in and outputs. Reviews say it works fine with a single amp set up but works best with stereo amp rigs... But those people (Plebs) probably don't have amps with stereo effects loops though.

Does the Rumble split a stereo signal through the left and right speakers? I'm sure the effect wouldn't be as pronounced as it would across two separate amps. Just trying to nail down some expectations.

I have not opened my amp to confirm, but I would not think the internal 2x10 speakers in the R800 Studio, nor its matching 2x10 cab, are wired in stereo.

This would be most unusual for any amp, since the cab speakers generally are too close to create stereo separation. It would also create a significant functional difference between it and the R40 Studio, with its single speaker, that I am sure would be noted. Normally, for the cabs, the signal is simply a mono-summed image of any stereo signal.

My understanding is that the stereo effects loop is intended to be outputted via the line out ports or the USB outputs when set to “POST” (stereo) mode; and, of course, via the headphone out.

I don't have much experience using the stereo version of my Studio 40, but I live in hope! From what I read, and played with a bit, the stereo is all external. Neither the Studio nor the Stage has right or left internal speakers, they are all mono. You must use either the FX loops or the XLR Outs set to stereo, or both, to get external stereo signals.

If you use the FX loops, both Send & Return, the signal is mixed to mono for the internal speaker(s). The stereo XLR Outs is then the most direct way to get actual stereo separation from your stereo effects pedal. [ETA: Or the USB can send stereo signals to a DAW or board.]

You can, however, connect the stereo FX Sends to two other amps, via their inputs*, to get the native Studio or Stage stereo effects separation. Use the instrument inputs of the two external amps because the level of the FX Sends is limited (somehow?) to not give full volume to their FX Returns. [See the Connecting Combos Together section of the Rumble Club Wiki page] This is what I've done briefly a couple times in preparation for that big call from Sir Paul.

I would guess that

Excellent reply G. I think that explains the stereo loop inputs satisfactorily.

In the meantime, to enjoy my Mimiq pedal I've got my old rumble 100 to dust off as my secondary amp. I'm not completely S.O.L. if I decide to run stereo amps since I got the ext cab for my Stage. I could pick up a 500 head at some point.

I appreciate you taking the time and honoring us with your bountiful knowledge, G-Dog

Not knowledge, but only slight experience and opinion, in this case.

Is the R100 your only other amp ATM, besides the Stage? Any other amp could do for experimenting with stereo output while putting the Mimiq in the Stage's FX loops. Who knows, you might decide that another R100, for best balance, might be better than a head with the 210 cab! Just a thought ...

I just got home with my Mimiq and ran the stereo outs from the pedal directly to the instrument inputs on the R100 and RS800.. I'll play around with the effects loops over the weekend and report back. But so far, this pedal is awesome. When used in mono you can barely tell it's there, but in stereo it gives a big multitracked sound.

G, if my band practiced at a lower volume another daisychained R100 would be fine and it could be mic'd or ran LO to a mixer live. The 800 is plenty for either on its own without the cab, but it does make my sound way more full. I would hate to neuter my Stage.. maybe I'll just get another!

Yes, Dook, another RS800c would certainly help! But, I'd prefer to just put the Mimiq in the FX loops of your current RS800c and run the Stereo XLR Outs to a couple of these rigs:

I think we spoke about that dream rig of yours a while back. Gah, wouldn't that be juicy! There wouldn't be room for anyone else on the stage though.

The comment ya made a out the second R100 got me to thinking though. Two daisy chained together could be fun and it could be fun to use them as left and right channels in the same way ya described. I figured that's why ya asked if it was my only other amp, which at the moment it is.

Do the RS XLRs output in stereo/mono or Pre/Post... Or both? The labeling is a bit confusing on the back.
