Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Thanks! I think I want it. I could probably go with a Rumble 500 and daisy chain my Studio 40 into it, but with price of this used Stage being rougjly equivalent to the price of a new Rumble 500 (can't find a used one), I don't see why I shouldn't go for the Stage.

I've been told one speaker on the Stage 800 I am considering has a dented cone. Is that likely to affect tone? Trying to understand what to expect with this amp, or if I should pass on it and look at another.

Tone could be affected, depending on the dent. Take your Studio and compare its tones to the Stage, especially with some fuzz. Yeah, 110 vs 210 is kinda apples & oranges, but they should be similar in general. Pull off the velcro'd grille and see just how big a dent it is, and if it's thinned or torn the cone. Even an imperceptual thinning could possibly lead to tearing at high volume. A difficult judgement call at best. If they don't discount it a whole lot for that damage you might think twice.

The Stage 800 that was supposedly in great condition actually has an issue with the display. I'm told there's a line running through it, but the functions work. This one will go on clearance, not sure what the price will be.

Has anyone replaced a display on one of these?

I would be leery of one with screen issues. And you will need that screen to work to get the most out of this amp.

Myself and a few others I’ve read about have had screens go bad and go blank all together.

I posted a little about it on the first page of this thread and the main Rumble amp thread before this one started.

It seemed to be a problem with the early run of these amps. My whole amp was replaced under warranty and has been fine ever since. I haven’t seen anymore reports of this issue for awhile now so I think the issue has been remedied.

I doubt Fender will ever sell the displays separately so you’re probably going to be looking at a repair/replacement bill from an authorized service center if that screen goes all the way out.

The Tone app can do a lot to keep you from having to look at the screen, but you will need it at some point.

Thanks for that info. I'll get an idea of how bad the screen is, although I'm told it's not too bad, just a line running through the middle of it. I think I can do most of what I'd like to do through the Tone App (I use it on my Studio 40 and haven't needed to do anything that it couldn't do), but I'll check carefully.

I'm trying not to spend full retail. The 2 used 800's I've run across both have issues, so not sure exactly what I want to do.

Ordered my Stage 800. Went with the one that has the dented speaker cone. The dent is right near the middle of the cone, so it's unlikely the speaker itself was torn. It was tested and there was no sound degradation. Got GC to throw in a 3-year warranty in case something happens. I'm happy with the deal I got and, based on my experience with my Studio 40, I'm sure I'll be happy with the amp.

Hey, Dook! I know you’re just messing with Th0mmy, but you got me confused enough to look up your 210 arrival pic and then your Stage grille reclothing pic, too. I, too, never heard of a stock silver grille Stage or Studio. Sorry to bust your con, but I'm watching Monk on TV and he always rubs off in me. I hadda post this to make the voices in my head stop. Aaaauuuugh! :smug:

ps: Lovely Bass VI & Jag!!!

Lol.. I had to! Your sleuthing skills never cease to impress G

Well my Stage 800 arrived Tuesday evening. Unboxed it yesterday and updated the firmware. Tested it out a little, but will have to wait for an appropriate place to really open it up. Hopefully we'll do an outdoor practice/gig again Sunday. Weather should be good, if a little warm. Still trying to find the tones I like, but I can check them out on my Studio 40.

Great, RL! I think you're the first one I've read of having both the Stage & Studio. I would expect many, if not most, of us look forward to any comparisons you could make between the two. I know I still lust after the Stage since getting the Studio. And those with the Stage may be curious about the Studio, too.

Please keep us updated.

I will, but don't expect an in-depth review. I'm sure I'll barely scratch the surface of what the Stage can do for quite a while. A 500C would have been plenty for me, but couldn't find one until after I bought this.

The occasional observation, or two, here or there would be of interest, as you see fit, thanks. ;)

I have yet to run my Studio through my R500c at volume, though I still hope the chance is in my future.

You deserve to jam it at full volume.

Here lately, I've been daisy chaining my guitar player's Acoustic 100w bass amp through my effects loop, or splitting my signal with my Mimiq pedal for a wet/dry bi-amp. You've really gotta feel some of these models at concert volumes, my brother.
