Fender Special Edition Noir Precision Bass

So have we entered the "noir" age? Is this Fender's answer to the Rickenbacker 4003 Noir?

This may be a good time to build up the most awesome collection of black basses!

And we have the stealth stingray

Why are you and so many like you so desperately evil. Why black? Why not bright vibrant color? Why Evil? Why not Good? Do you worship satan? Desire doom; gloom, and death?

My Precision Bass is Daphne Blue (1968), and my fretless Jazz is blacked out in tribute to 6 instruments I had stolen when my home was broken into. I want to get a fretted Jazz, and would love to have that one all white (knobs and pickup covers even) to compliment the black one, but Fender doesn't make that. As it is, to get my fretless all black, I had to combine Fender parts and paint the head stock black with a custom logo. That is the only black instrument I own. The others are either natural, sunburst, or Daphne Blue.
So, the choice of black isn't about doom and gloom, being metal, or being evil.

There's one or two TB members who've used Sharpie markers on B/W/B pickguards to get a red (or other colour) accent. I wonder if the Fender staff watch this forum!

I like it. I cannot possibly bring home another bass (especially another Precision) without ridiculous wife karma. Too bad.

I'm so ashamed of myself but once I saw it I couldn't stop thinking about it. The latest batch, it looks like were done in Ebony and Pau Ferro and when I saw the Ebony one at Sweetwater, almost completely black from head to toe I lost all self control and I bought it (sob-sniff) I hate myself sometimes:bawl:. It arrives tomorrow.
Oooh pics!

Not too shabby. Ebony board would've been much nicer.
I took awhile to sink in, the fretboard choices were Rosewood or Pau Ferro but I think they (Sweetwater) didn't realize it was Ebony. I was thinking I have not seen Rosewood that color. Then it sort of dawned on me. They had the other one there and my Sweetwater rep called me this morning and he said the other one went too. They're out of them.

Well good, one less temptation for me then. ;)
