Fieldy

Ok. Slipknot is dead. They died last year when they came out with Vol. 3. My friend let me listen to the first single, and that song was crap, the WHOLE cd was crap.

And so is Korn. I'll give them props for the whole down tuning joint they did, but other than that there died also.

Now HIM is a better band than both KoRn and Slipknot.

I would not classify HIM anywhere near the same category as Korn and Slipknot. But they are a fantastic band that has been around for longer than people may think. In the last year they have gotten popular in North America, I'm sure Bam Margera has something to do with their growing popularity;)

+1. Clutch is one hell of a band. Great live too.

Heh. I saw Clutch in '91 at the JayCee's in Yuma, Az. They were fantastic, the whole town was covered in little mailing labels with "Clutch" written on them in Sharpie. The band was giving them away.

Wow, I just made it through my first Fieldy thread. I thought they were supposed to be much, much nastier than this :)

I read an interview with the G####r player from SOAD and he said he played most of the bass tracks on the Mesmorize and Hypnotise tracks, not the actual bass player... :eyebrow:

I heard this too, and I woulndt been suprised if its completely true, you can tell the lack of Bass quality in the newer albums, in the first album the Bass was much better, much more noticable even if simple in some songs ie Sugar, but Shavo doesn't get enough credit, I like him.

Don't give Korn credit for downtuning. Bands were doing that years before they came out.

Hell, even 7 strings were way before they came around. They were originally made for Jazz so that guitarists could have an extended range.

I think what he was refering to is just the combination of downtunning the 7 strings giving the low A powerchords "most people" had never heard before, lets remeber Korn has been around since 94ish you find alot more metal bands with droped below C now then u did then.

That is what I mean, by KoRn doing bring the whole drop tuning.

i thought black sabbath was one of the first to detune, but not really for the sound, but for less tension so tony Iommi's fingertips wouldn't pop off :)

but i do think that Korn really got the trend going and made it more mainstream imo
Maybe down to A, but all of Grunge was drop tuned. Except maybe Mother Love Bone.

I do believe the technique used was called lap piano...:smug:
7strings were around since the late 20's... back then korn was something you harvest!!... and metal was the tools used to harvest it!!

Hey guys,
I like this thread its my first one here and i think it is coming along just nicely. HIM is a band nowhere near associated with Slipknot or KoRn. But HIM is ok. they are not my favorites though. Slipknot hasn't died they have lost what the original music sense was since M.F.K.R. If you guys didnt know Corey Taylor and James Root are creating a spin-off band called Stone Sour which is more emoish music.

Im scared by the fact that Thursday is giving props to KoRn for downtuning. wow. Bands have been doing that for so long and now we start to respect it. :hmm:

Axto0x you love to do searches dont you?

If bassists are being respected becuz a person heard they downtune so low then what has bass playing come to?

And Matt Till i meant to say becuz. Im Out.

Actually, they are helpful. I do them mostly w/ gear.
When your new, it keeps from rehashing the same things over and over. There is a Jaco thread and a Fieldy thread at least once a month, and SOAD causes fights between the younger and older players.
No offense.:)

BTW, someone just posted another "Bash Fieldy Thread".

FYI: I know this whole "z" thing is on purpose, it's just stupid.
