Flanger recommendations?

I have had a BF-2 since highschool, it's a green bottom taiwan version and is still ACA. I did tweak with the trim pots when I was a kid, but pretty sure I got it back to "normal" or pretty close. I used it for guitar back then.

While the BF2 works fine for bass, the low end does get a little muddy, not a total drop out, but the BF-2b bass flanger does let the fundamental come through a bit more solidly. I currently use it set for a fast vibrato like effect for "spiders" in a system of a down tribute, and it sounds exactly like the album. I use a CE-2b chorus as well, which gets turned on more than the flanger, which is just for one song. If I needed a more traditional jet sounding flange for something else, and spiders was in the set, I would just use my bf-2 for the other setting. They are similar, same controls and everything, but I believe the difference is the BF2-b applies the effect only to the upper register, not sure where the cutoff freq is, but probably around 100hz or so. In fact the warble effect was a little stronger on the bf2 because it flanges the whole range. Still I found the bf-2b to be the better choice.

I have a bf2, boss bass flanger and a bass stereo flanger
The dod always comes as first choice, and then the bass flanger. Tbh I find the bf2 too metallic for my tastes

I was looking at the BF-2, but caught your recommendation for the Donner Jet Convolution Flanger. You mentioned it was for your guitar, have you tried it with your bass by now and is ther a big drop in volume when you engage it?

Yes I have, and I don't notice any volume drop. Of course, that's subjective, and I suppose the rotation of it can feel like a volume drop as it goes through the back side of the rotation, but it sounds fine to me.

In my opinion it's pretty tough to beat the boss bf-2. They go on eBay for about 40$. I think I saw one in the classifieds recently too. It's great. When I bought one I made a demo;

I'll second the BF2 recommendation, especially as it's one of my favorite chorus pedals as well. Turn the depth up, set the rate fairly low, and the resonance almost off and it makes a great chorus to boot.

The BF2 does make a good chorus and is a nice flanger. It has a great tone and is versatile, but my one amplifies any up-chain noise.

The flangers I like from sound clips are the BF-2, the A/DA and the mooer (donner jet) O have several chorus pedals so I'll either pick up a BF-2 if I can find a used at a cheap price or a donner jet. Lots of info about which version of the BF-2, is that hype.

I tried the Boss Phase Shifter BP-3 and that had some useable settings. Though the 140+tax new seemed a bit too pricey though I could see having some fun with it.

So I'm not going to deny it, I bought a Mooer E-Lady on a whim because it was like $40 dollars. The thing sounds damn good. It honestly rivals my A/DA in some ways. Not as versatile because of the lack of a Manual knob and no negative feedback. But it is surprisingly good.

Darn you now I’m looking at major E lady GAS! I’m hoping that with delay can get me into tool’s no quarter “underwater” type tone...
