Shaking down the home studio with tracking for the new album. The YYD in a rough bounce from today. Running direct into a TH500 head, DI out of that into the Saffire 40 interface. Just a quick and dirty mix and there are plenty of clams. Not sure how much we'll use from today but always a learning experience.

I knew in an instant that I have heard 'blues 2' somewhere before. It took a few minutes to nail it. Chicago's Liquid Soul with the mighty fine Ricky Showalter on bass doing 'All Blues'. Nice version nostatic BTW, assuming Liquid Soul is the original artist.

The new Tony Grey Signature has been sighted... Looks nice! I imagined the cutaway to be a lot deeper though (was imagining an MG horn, lol)

As someone who sold his 4-string YYD to get a one-of a kind 6-string Fbass... I'm guessing that you just couldn't bring yourself to part with the box the Fbass came in then? [wink] :D

Teasing of course. My experience tells me they are BOTH great brands, builders and basses.

Be sure and tell your new buyer about Club Fbass so we can get him a number.

I should do that, Tom. He is 'kulasterol' here on TalkBass (hope he doesn't mind being F Bass 'outed' here :hmm:), but I don't think he spends much time on the forums of late. I'll give him a nudge to drop by, though.

Regarding the box, the honest truth is that when I moved into the (much smaller) house I'm in now, I had to part with most of my guitar/bass boxes. I didn't have the F Bass box any longer (if it even originally came in one). I'm one to keep the original boxes for most everything (I have most of the boxes for my camera equipment). I just couldn't find the space, much as i would love to keep them all. Nothing like having something as cool as a Fodera box. However, I WILL have one more, when my new 5 string Fodera shows up, a year from April :)

That is correct. I am certain that we will do a 6-string version of it sometime down the road, but his most pressing need right now was for a four strings, so that is what he got in line for us to build him. We had the great pleasure of spending several hours with him yesterday and oh man, did he make this 4-banger sing. It is such a rich sounding bass and in his hands it's really something special. He is in the process of finishing a whole series of instructional videos, books and recordings that he will be using this instrument for (among other things).

Tony went down from 6 to 4 on his Signature ???

Thanks J.

The top is Box Elder burl ?

:)

ah - thanks !!!

on the picture the top looks kinda Matt's new Standart Nr.1 ;)

will this Bass also be available as a signature series since it has that unique 4 str. features ?

It is actually the first ever Foder 33" scale, 17.5mm spaced 4...

J

That is an interesting spec. I have to admit as my hands get older the prospect of smaller scales gets more attractive. The new Deep 4 is 34" scale but plays very short. Not sure that the Deep 5 @ 35" scale will get a lot of playing time.

If the MGS proves to be the comfort king...well, let's just say, "hmmm."
