Fodera Club Part XI

The new case will roll out sometime later this year. We had hoped for January 1, but our supplier messed up the first run of them and they had to be sent back. No definite date yet, but sometime in the next 3 months we expect to transition to a new case for the Custom Shop instruments that will feature a black "Elephant Skin" material on the outside, embroidered Fodera logo (rather than painted) and a crushed red velvet interior. The Standards will either stay with the current case or possibly get a different one from the same manufacturer. The new high end case physically looks like our current case...just with vastly upgraded materials.

We will probably have a program for trade-up for anyone who's bass was completed within the past 3-6 months where you would just pay our difference in cost plus shipping and swap them out if you wanted...details will be announced when we have definitive shipping dates on the new cases...

Cheers,

Are they going to be durable enough for road use? I know it's not an Anvil but would love to see that form factor in a medium duty case for when I need one!! If so put me down for one for my YYS...

Peace,

T

Thanks Jason, that sounds excellent. I have the old style hard-case and don't gig out with it as I feel it isn't robust enough to stand-up to the constant rigour. Forgive my ignorance but are you saying the new case is actual "Elephant Skin" or rather a synthetic fabric resembling "Elephant Skin."

I doubt they are killing elephants.

Synthetic material resembling Elephant Skin...

The new case will not be any more (or less) road worthy than the current one...just more solidly built with classier materials. As for the case for the Standards, of the two options that we are looking at, one of them is a plastic shelled material that is much more road worthy than both the current case and the new, upgraded Custom Shop case...it woud be an available option to Custom Shop customers if they wanted this "downgraded" case instead of the Elephant Skin one...

Jason,

I am definitely 'in' for a case upgrade. While the case my YYD came in is certainly nice enough, a Fodera absolutely deserves as custom of a 'home' as the bass is itself. So...PLEASE let us know when the trade-in option will be available. In fact, I had been thinking about getting an after-market case for the YYD as is. I bought an SKB molded case for a Strat, and love it. I was thinking about getting one for the YYD (3i-5014), but now I'll just wait for the nicer Fodera one!

LOL, yes we use CITIES Brazilian Rosewood but real Elephant Skin. Remember gang...I drive a Prius, no real Elephant Skin here. LOL

Just checking! LoL.. I read it way too fast and thought "My god, they're gonna shoot Nelephants for cases."

I had this strange mental image for a moment of the Jason and the guy's from the shop in hunting regalia with rifles over the shoulder. Phew..

Will definitely take you up on that. May just do it in person so that I can get a pic with you guys and my new bass.

There you go Tim, we have the answer and a few laughs at my expense too..LoL

Shame that you won't have yours in time, but it's something to look forward to down the road. I'm thinking it might be worth getting both the Plastic-moulded and the New Custom case. We'll see..

Got it mate!!

I'm fine with the existed version though.... since I don't hardcase a lot unless int'l travel. :bassist:

fwiw I would really like a road worthy plastic shell case (like the SKB ATA that Fender uses for their AmStd and AmDlx). I used that case for flying with my Rob Allen without incident. Built-in TSA locks and tough. For local gigs I use gig bags, the only time I use a case is when I am on a road trip or flying and for that I want tough so "nice" isn't usually a criteria.
