Absolutely, of course not! You answered the question, 'cause you KNOW the right answer! I was just giving myself a hard time...I ought to have known the answer to that question, being that I'm getting a piece of Brazilian (and a not inexpensive piece, either!) for the ramp on my forthcoming bass. You'd think I would know what the ramp is going to look like, right? I'm such a doofuss :crying:

Baird,

Well I can't say that the Brazilian I'm getting is particularly expensive, in the sense that any Brazilian has a premium, but in an absolute sense, yes, it's pricey compared to say, a birdseye maple fretboard. I am assuming that the ramp is going to come from the same piece that is going into my fretboard (perhaps an unwarranted assumption), and the fretboard Brazilian is a stunningly figured piece of wood, so I can only hope...

LOL 'Doubler, not so much, really. The only thing that's not 100% crystal clear in my mind is the ramp (and the only aspect of THAT was whether it will come from the same board as the fretboard), which was a 'last minute' addition, anyway. I'm not concerned about the radius, as I will use the ramp more as a continuous thumb rest than a 'fingertip limiter'. I was going to have it installed along with the build, but decided to have them build the ramp and send along for me to install later when I want to.

I'm not terribly worried about the level of detail on the ramp, but I am about everything else, and the rest of it is nailed and clearly understood. Besides, it's ONLY money :ninja: As for sleep, I do very well, thank you :)

Well, ASSUMING that it WAS the waxing technique...expense has no bounds. Gotta keep those bikini lines absolutely clean, dont'cha know. I have a reputation to uphold.

Oh, and by the way...Baird's first comment "So you are getting an expensive Brazilian?" went right over my head until the last few posts... Shows I must not be getting nearly enough sleep....zzzzZZZZZZ

Yes, I wanted it more along the lines of the early 80's AJ6 but a single cut. The low B causes premature births in mammals.

that is in Schwetzingen near Heidelberg - the place is called "Alte Wollfabrik" - don't know from which area you're from ;)

There had been some demo recordings done with this Bass but nothing yet that is ready to be shown - but there will be some stuff the next months - I'm pretty sure ;)

I took this Bass with me to the Musik-Messe last week and it killed everybody who played or heard it ;)

How did you get the bass through the doors at Musikmesse?
I thought they are pretty strict on taking stuff in... :).

You just have to have a form documenting the instrument so that when you take it back out they know you brought it in. NAMM is the same way. The other thing that usually works too, is if you happen to purchase an instrument, the dealer fills out a form to prove you didn't steal it, and/or, they can also walk you out the door... just requires someone with a (in this case) Fodera Exhibitor badge to do it. It also helps if you have an "Artist" badge, but I'm not sure if that's required.
