Maybe Jason can tell little more about those "New Standards". How much they were made, what was wood options,more about preamp(is it Pope?), what was the period to make these and what wood laminate is the headstock(I think it's macassar ebony or rosewood). Why they discontinued the line? Because I think it's marvelous instrument
. I was told that this particular bass was bought from Germany shop called station-music.de. Also I'm interested about the prices when these were new. And it would be nice to know what is that worth of now? (Not going to sell this)
There is only one thing that I don't like in this. And it is the case. All my band fellows ask is there a piano or some other keyboard. It's flight case and it is BIG and HEAVY. Original Fodera teardrop case would be much better.

Actually if you do a search, this question has been answered a couple of times in earlier Fodera threads. The "New Standard" Monarchs were built for several years. Some of the initial woodworking on some of them was done by an outside shop and then they were finished in our shop here in Brooklyn. Others were built all in Brooklyn, but there is no way to tell which is which. I do not remember the exact quantity of them off the top of my head, but I believe that it was around 30 +/-.
The specs of them varied, but usually they had either rosewood or ebony on the Pegheads.

Order a Standard teardrop case from Fodera. They are only $220.

The custom case is kinda pricy (for a case only purchase - they seem to be included with a new custom bass) but the Standard case is very inexpensive for the quality of case you get. I love mine (if saying I love a case isn't super weird.
).
Yes they are, when I open the case for the first time to show someone my bass they always comment how nice the case is. Usually goes like this, "OMG that bass is beautiful! Wow look at that CASE!"
Does anyone else use a Thunderfunk head? If so, what cab are you running with your Fodera? Over the past couple weeks, I am not pleased with my rig as much. It worked great with my Sadowsky, but the Fodera is so much more versatile and even across the frequency range, my current setup is way too mid-rangy. My only concern about switching cabs is that we run a good sized PA, so my rig is only for personal monitor reasons, but I still want to hear the sound I love. When I run the bass direct at home, it's the sound I want out of my rig, but just don't get it. The rig cuts through the entire band which consists of two electric guitards, keys, drums and x4 vocalists, and I know scooping out some of those mids might bury me in the on-stage mix.
I'm running the TF-550B and a Schroeder 1212L. Both of which are very mid range rich. I love the head and won't get rid of it, but I am looking to get something a bit more scooped to hopefully balance out the tone I want to hear. I need 12's because I use an octaver, synth and envelope which will tear up 10's (especially because we are really loud).
Just looking for some suggestions right now. Not sure the route I want to go.

Thanks. Dual coil, active with bass and mids boosted a little. Tone control little less than half. Fodera nickels, they've been on a while so r a little dead.

While I don't necessarily subscribe to the notion of "needing" a given speaker size, I will gladly admit that we have some great 1x12 and 2x12 options on the market right now. Many of them would pair up quite well with your Thunderfunk. If you want deep lows, a bit of a lower to middle mid scoop, and present upper mids, with smooth (yet surprisingly extended) highs, I'd check out a Baer ML-112 or ML-212. If you want a somewhat more balanced tone, but still want good upper mid clarity and great driver to horn integration, the new Bergantino CN212 is going to be tough to beat. Another nicely balanced and great-sounding 2x12 is the GK Neo212-II. These do play nicely with other amp brands, and they are an amazing bang for the buck (but can hang with the higher priced gear, IME/IMHO). Though they are designed to be relatively balanced from top to bottom, the fEARful 1x12 or 2x12 builds are going to seem scooped compared to that Schroeder, and they are going to sound great with the Thunderfunk, as well.
Lots of other great options. Those are just a few off the top of my head.
So were all of them built with outside word working? That's not what I read previously on TB and that's certainly not what I was told by the shop when I called asking about my bass. What I read previously was that less than 30 New Standards had outside work done on them and this was done by US Guitars. When I called the shop trying to register my bass, I was specifically told that my New Standard was built 100% in the shop. I was also told that there were close to 70 New Standards built with just my wood combo. Maybe I'm just misreading what you posted.
For the other owner that was asking questions. I saw them retail for between $4700 to $5700, depending on what year they were built. The preamp was a two-band Pope preamp, which I believe was the same they were using on the NYCs.

Awesome! Thanks for the ideas. Berg's were on my list of cabs to look into. Not familiar at all with the Baer or the fEARful cabs. I'll look into those as well. The GK has crossed my mind, but I worry about their quality. In all honesty, I need to get either a 4x12 or similar to compete with the volume levels we play. It blows my mind how loud we actually are and we only do weddings or corporate events. When we do outdoor weddings... forget it! I push that cab beyond its' limits too often and I actually feel sorry for it. Hahaha.
The Baer ML212 (or a pair of ML112s) will surprise you. I've run the pair with a 10 piece band and no FOH and it isn't even breathing hard.
I'll have a Berg CN112 later today to compare but if you need volume and whoomp, and especially if you want more of a "rock" type tone, Baer is tough to beat.
I'm pretty sure a pair of the GK Neo112-II's would surprise you, but if you want to play it safe, a pair of their 212's or even a 112/212 combo should really be enough. And the wide range of the GKs would compliment the tighter mid-forward voicing of the TFB head as well. I know that head well... had one of those and one of the 750's.
Gigged an Emperor and TF550 for quite a while. Yes, Fodera with TF with Schroeder is a bit too much of a good thing. For your needs and that head and bass, a Bear Ml212 or a Berg CN212 would make you very happy.
For maximum wump per pound, there really isn't much that can touch the CN212. Hammers at 46 pounds. Baer Ml212 is a bit 'tighter and brighter' and still a reasonable 70 pounds.
Both have nice, present upper mids (key with the 550), and both are reasonably efficient and 4ohms (also key with the TF)
Both far and away tops in the 212 category!
+1 on Baer/Berg also being great options, but just one side note...
Chris, if you're dedicated to the idea of using more than 2 speakers/1 cab, or at least having that option, at least the CN is not available in 8 ohms, so you could only run one of those... at least IMHO "safely" with that TFB.

I'm running two Aguilar SL112s in stereo. At 25lbs, they aren't bad. A little mid lacking. Definite vintage vibe.
