I don't recall the actual timeline, but it was a long time. 3 weeks at least.

took delivery of fretted 6-string in april 1985. fretless came in january 1986.

I am in the same boat with my E5S.

I love my other basses.... But I don't want to play them nearly as much since I got my E5S.

I did a cool bar gig tonight and I brought an active Fender Jazz 5er and my Fodera. I figured that the Jazz would be better for funk and metal so I brought that along. We played 80's dancing and drinking music (Superstitious to Livin after Midnight.... Mustang Sally to Stone Temple Pilots' Plush, etc) and I started off the gig with the Fodera. Played the first 2 sets and I sounded amazing. Switched to the Jazz for the 3rd... Clanky/trebly on stage, but didn't cut thru nearly as good as my E5S. I went back to the Fodera. Best bass for metal?

You know what was really cool? I had 3 local bass player friends in the crowd and they all came up to me between sets telling me how great I sounded and how cool my bass looked. I told them it was a Fodera and not one of them had heard of the brand. The logo didn't impress my bass friends, the great tone did!

and... is that the centre line of the pickup or where the pole pieces are...Which pinch harmonic does one get just above the pole pieces when the bass is intonated properly at the bridge?

This was built for a longtime friend of the shop's and he wanted us to build him a "Fodera P-Bass." Boy did we (if I do say so myself). For a couple of days Joey and I nearly got into fights over who should keep "testing" it out! There will be many more of this kind of thing in the future...we simply loved the sound!
