Fodera Club Part XX

Except for the following little detail, all of what Jason wrote is correct: I had indeed noticed the issues with neck stability very soon after receiving the bass, but since it was still the "pre-Jason-era" it was very hard to contact them. The final result of my inital experience with the OLD Fodera customer service was receiving a second truss rod adjustment tool for free.

Only when I noticed the incredible improvement in customer service I tried to contact them again. But of course, Jason can't know this old part of the story and I'm not sure I have shared it with Holly Wagner.

So, to get something positive out of the whole thing and wrap it up I think we can all agree that since Jason and Fodera have joined forces, the company finally has an online presence und customer service department that is worthy of their amazing instruments.

I will continue to work with Jason on a solution.

Thanks to everyone who offered their support and advice, either in public or via PM.

Thanks Christoph and, as always, we will do our very best to achieve an outcome with you that makes you smile.

Regards,

Jason

The communication response is great and no doubt the solution to the problem will be found, corrected and another person will be added to the satisfied customer roster. On another note, deposit is in, production number received and Emperor II will go into production in February 2014. At least I have my E5S to calm my nerves until then. Yep another proud papa waiting for his newborn.

You could get 2 Emperors instead of one Emperor2.

Christoph, the one thing us regulars know and appreciate is that Jason & team Fodera will always try to find an amicable solution to resolve any problems owners might face; JT just wants the best for his customers and lest we forget he's Fodera's biggest customer owning no less than 13 fab basses, he's a nut for detail.
Most regulars on this thread are confident that your story of discontent will turn out to be another success story. We look forward to your post that say's "Wow I got my bass back and couldn't be more pleased."

Easy..

LOL. Somehow I knew that was coming. What's funny is I started out with another bolt on and then
it went to the neck through, then what the heck lets go for the SC. What's really neat is the way the discussion
starts with the kind of tone you want and from there the wood and construction method specifics meld to create the
sound you have in your head. Like going to a tailor versus buying off the rack.

Gotta find a name for this one. Vinny (my E5S) will now have a big brother with attitude to keep him company.

I've had my ES5 for about a year now. A day does not go by where I don't look at it, touch it, feel it, and or play it and not feel the same sense of awe that I felt on day one of ownership. I know that many have stated through word and then demonstrated through their actions (buying custom Foderas) that the Standards are "gateways" and just the beginning. I have no doubt that moving up to a custom Fodera must take the experience to a whole new level. It's just hard for me to imagine it getting any better than this. Thanks again Fodera

I can't put mine down either. The Standards are high end in every sense of the word. Entry level Fodera to me is a misnomer, they are every bit a Fodera as any of the custom models are. For me the customs are more about getting a specific tone that you want. The E5S components are such that you can nail a variety of tones in many genres, more of a tone chameleon if you will. I had a lot of reservations about shelling out for a custom instrument and because of my location we don't have access to high end instruments to try out so for the most part I have relied on doing a lot of research on certain brands that had a great following. Fodera has exceeded all of my expectations performance wise plus having a team that treats you with the same enthusiasm as their prominent endorsers tells you something.

Just another question that may have been posted up before but what is the difference between the standard DC pickups versus the Seymour Duncans? They look similar but
maybe there are other things inherent in the design.

They are also into pushing the boundaries and trying new things, while still remaining grounded in their experiences.

Evidently I've been somewhat on the bleeding-edge of chambered Monarchs. The fretless reportedly is a resonant beast, even though it isn't done yet. In fact I think I can hear it from here...

This does not make the wait for mine any easier!!!! :( :rollno: :smug: :p :D

Yep Christoph I think you just have to bite the bullet, pay to ship it home to Brooklyn, and trust the masters to weave their magic.

It'll be worth all the angst.

Duncans are made for us in Seymour Duncan's Custom Shop and the Fodera Dual Coils are made by a longtime friend who winds them for us. Tonally they are very similar. However, we use a 60's winding on the Standards (with 1970's spacing -- go figure) because as we tested out the various options that would comprise the Standards, they sounded the best. Originally we were thinking 70's wound PUP's in 70's spacing, but the 60's wind just sounded better...
