Agreed on all counts! Congratulations on a beauty! Makes me want to put in my custom order even stronger now! Todd you were the reason I took the gamble on my YYS and I have never looked back since I got her! She is not "missing" anything at all but I want a custom that will give me a bad ass P bass and the ULTIMATE Stingray in one bass and I feel like I can get that from the guys at Fodera. The only question is do I want a 4 or a 5 and do I want a YYD or a Monarch. Leaning toward a maple board so it could be cool in a YYD. I also want one with Dual coils but in a 4 or 5? The logical thing would be to just order one of each in a 4 and 5 but my wallet and common sense are holding me back! LOL! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the new babies! Play her in good health!!

Peace,

T

The Standard Preamp is probably your best way to go given the way that bass was drilled...

J

Sure !

The YYD5 just has a John East U-Retro installed. The other pic shows the original Haz 2-Bd. preamp.

I just realized that the Standard preamp has a slightly different knob positioning. Will the newer custom pre probably fit the knob layout of my YYD5 ? I have an older (pre-2009) Pope pre which will not fit as it is an Emperor layout. But the MG layout by any chance ?

Thanks! And, please note that this is a "Standard" top for us...Curly Walnut and Curly Maple...

Jason

Just stunning.

I am thrilled that I picked a top from the same batch for my current Monarch 5 build when I was in Brooklyn in March.

I was told by Jason after I looked at at least a dozen others and decided on mine that it was the same walnut as the "Nostatic" top. Todd has great taste!:D

I am also excited that I listened to Joey when he told me to pull the abalone inlays from the build as that top with ebony (fretted) would look great with no inlays or dots.

Just when I was whining to my wife this morning about paying down a bunch of my balance tomorrow, seeing a bass like this makes it an easy call to Laura or Phil.:hyper:

The basses coming out of Fodera seem to get better looking every day.:bassist:

Hey folks, not really Fodera bass related, but Fodera endorsee Janek Gwizdala is running a string donation service that donates used strings to musicians in countries such as Cuba.

Great cause and I have arranged to have a local retailer donate approx 1000 sets of bass and guitar strings a year. I am also donating a bunch of strings.

No affiliation, but additional info here....

Cheers!

That's awesome! I've always hated throwing out my old strings. I don't go through much, but I'll be saving them all now.
