Am I wrong? What do you think?
I give you that some of it is all over the place. I wasn't really delving into
his playing on my original comment, just the fact that he looks like he's
having a good time doing his thing. Critiquing his playing was not the intent
of my original post. He's still growing as a player and a lot of what's tasteful
versus what is not is a matter of playing experience and maturity. The enjoyment
that he's getting from playing is self evident. The heart and soul have a lot to
with playing anything than just what is commonly called "chops".
On your observations, yeah I do see what you see. In fact, a friend of mine, went
route of mastering the guitar, knows the technical stuff back and forth, did
the Berkelee music thing, trying to get more notes in a measure. For metal, it
may work, but with blues, rock, jazz, etc., it's more of playing what fits and gaining
the musical maturity to get more out of less. Now this guy is into blues which has
really changed his playing for the better.
