The Duncans are great if used with both pickups full-on (blend centered) as you go to the bridge I find them a little less satisfying. I think the Duncans are terrific for funking and anybody who uses an even pickup blend.

I'm going to try the Barts and, subsequently, a pair of Nordy Big Splits. I'm actually going to get the Barts and drop them in while the Duncan covers go to Carey as a template. I know the Bart Classic duals have a really nice bridge pickup sound...but I have been hearing great things about the Big Singles/Big Splits. I love my bass, I just need to get the pickups right.

Whew!!!

Aloha, Garey

Thanks Garey! I do love my Foderas!

@ Joel

That's Chestnut on your Emperor , right ???

flamed chestnut or burl chestnut - how is it called exactly ? ;)

I want such a Top on my next one ;) - so I have to know that :p

thx, J.
Hi Julian

Yes, my Emperor has a Chestnut burl top. Mine is pretty dramatic but, unfortunately, there aren't many pieces like that left. :crying:

I really want that AJ presentation thats in the UK!

Yeah, there aren't many of them out there. Mine is still the finest instrument I've ever touched. Vinnie puts everything he has into the Presentations and they are just flawless and exceptional in every regard. I feel blessed to own one.

Hey Brad,
your AJ looks a lot like my old '87 Link Removed5 I used to have...

I miss it. Super nice sound, but it had a bad problem with the neck. Probabily because it was too thin, it warped and the B string had became kinda flabby sounding....
Still, I wish I had the $$ to order another one like this :smug:

I wasn't expecting them to look that much alike. Very cool, M.

Mine's rock solid. Has the Lane Poor/Fodera pickups and the HAZ pre.

BTW Looks like my 78 JAzz in that pic.

Keep us updated.
I am interested of what you think of the Big Splits compared to the other pickups.

I will be trying them out for the 1st time in a 4-string 32" scale, but that is about 8 weeks away.

I saw that bass on your page Cliff, I can't wait to see that holly top. I will let you guys know how all these PU's shake down. I end up doing this with every bass I really like...if I don't like a bass, it's gone before I drop any money on PU experiments...

joel, what fodera's do you currently have in stock? i might have to take a drive down to LI to pay a visit. i am looking to get into the boutique world within the year for sure. so we shall see.

Because they are almost all custom orders, the Fodera stock is a bit unpredictable. Let us know when you might come and we'll see if we can have something similar available for you to check out.
