Ferrari did say that they have stopped any development work on the current car to concentrate on 2022, so they probably expected/accepted how things ended up, today.

Good race today. I continue to be hopeful that McLaren (and Danny Ric) will continue to progress. Gaslly continues to impress as well. Can hardly wait for next season’s Netflix series to see what Gunther has to say about this year, yikes...
I am NOT a fan of Paul Ricard. Give me stretches of kitty litter at every runoff to strand every driver who exceeds track limits and penalizes every mistake. Endless runoff areas reward the sloppy and encourages exceeding the limits as penalties are minimized, IMO.

Meanwhile in IndyCar, Romain Grojean passed a whole lot of cars today after some wonky pit stops kept knocking him back in the order. Dale Coyne must feel like he hit the lottery about now.
We were there, great race. Saw one of Grojeans passes, he was determined to get to the front
Great race, today. Yea for Red Bull finally winning on their own track. Even though LeClerc made that mistake (maybe his fault, maybe not, as it was simply considered a racing incident by the stewards), he did a good run to get back up towards the top in the end.
Mercedes winless these past four races; maybe they should just pack it in now and wait it out for 2022.
Was really rooting for Checo to get on the podium...One more lap!!..But I do feel for Bottas.
George Russel in Mercedes next year? I look forward to seeing that.
Lando showed his metal and nice to see him pushing Mclaren toward the podium.
Aston Martin is putting up a fairly interesting fight....Of course I root for Lawrence and Lance...Our Canadian contribution..

Checo's turned in some great runs lately, despite the awkward strategies being called for him. He can drive the snot out of those cars.
So word is out that Red Bull continues to develop their '21 car while the competition (for the most part) is not. I realize a win is a win is a win... and a title is a title is a title... but I dunno. Seems like Horner's guys are simply capitalizing on this season's unique situation.
Russell will pick up where Bottas will drop off this winter as the #2 with occasional poles and victories. Provided the car is quick, he'll be competitive out of the gate. Regardless of how '22 goes, Russell's in a good spot if Hamilton should make a move to Ferrari or out of the series entirely (ex. retirement, sabbatical).
Eager to see where Bottas ends up, but my guess is Williams. Fun to think about him in some of the better rides on the grid (Aston, Alpine, Alfa)... but that won't happen.
Lando is ROLLIN'... and Danny Rick IS NOT. I feel bad for the Aussie, especially after watching his recent post-race video. Seeing how well his teammate is running has got to weigh heavily on him... the guy is not himself.
Gasly was having a solid weekend up until the start of Sunday's race... bummer. Oh well, that kinda stuff is gonna happen from time to time.

Vettel pulled a real clown move today, getting in Alonso's way when he was finishing up a flyer. Happy Vettel got the penalty as he deserved it.

Welp, again those predicting the weather in Spielberg, Austria didn't do a very good job... haha! For the past two weeks, rain was predicted... aaaaaaaaand then we had dry conditions.
Red Bull is rolling. Yes, they're putting more into the '21 car than Mercedes, but hey -- wins are wins... and titles are titles, regardless of how you get there. The Williams of the 90s was full of so many gizmos, the team regularly spanked their competition and won multiple titles, regardless of who was in the cockpit. Williams stunk up the show so bad, most of that technology was banned soon after... but there's no changing the annals of history. All in all, I kinda like it when one team stomps the other teams -- it's what elevates competition and makes the nerds from the teams being beaten to crunch more numbers and work later in the evening.
Nice race for both McLaren drivers. Lando is a stud. There was chatter on one of the practice shows this week in which someone suggested Lando should've not signed such a lengthy contract with McLaren just in case a Mercedes or Red Bull ride comes available in the next few years. I concur.
Lots of penalties in today's race. The ones handed out to Tsunoda for not being fully over on the right side of the painted line to enter the pits were a bit silly.
Russell came close to scoring the first points for Williams in two years? Crazy. I wonder if Russell will be a Mercedes team driver next year? Lots of talk lately about Bottas keeping his seat. With Hamilton re-signing for two more years, I'd keep Bottas if I were Toto. The Finn is a stronger teammate who will push Lewis when he needs to... and work with him when duty calls. Why upset the apple cart with a guy like Russell who's younger, less mature, not as experienced behind the wheel, etc.?
Kimi absolutely dropkicked Vettel at the end of the race. After what Vettel did to Alonso in qualifying, I can't exactly say I felt sorry for the German.
Rumors are swirling that Mazespin's dad wants to buy the Haas team from Gene Haas.
Just saw a funny video on Sky Sports F1's Instagram account (btw, a nice one to follow for the latest info and fun postings) in which Lando is talking to the press... Russell walks up behind him, pats him on the butt and congratulates him for today's finish... they shake hands and Russell makes a comment about Lando's hand being sweaty...
"That's champagne," replied Lando with a grin.

This may be a little risky, but I think I can trust you guys... I got a sneak peek at the '22 Haas F1 car this weekend. Man, when the DRS system opens that wing in the back, this thing is gonna be a rocket!
The first Saturday sprint race is this weekend. I agree with Lewis -- it's probably going to be a train. No one is going to want to sling it around too hard as there's nothing substantial to gain... so why risk it? But we'll see. Throw in a little weather and knucklehead like Mazespin and who knows what might happen???
