It's probably been mentioned, but I haven't found it yet! Has anyone figured out/is it possible to run an expression pedal into the FI that behaves like a mod wheel on the Bass Station?

Check the FI user manual for MIDI CC implementation to see if any are mapped to a similar param in the FI. If so you could use an MIDI compatible expression like the Source Audio Reflex to do that.

I’m a new user, received the pedal a last week, and enjoying it a lot.
I already downloaded the forum patches and exchanged mails with Gabor regarding the midi interface compatibility, ended up buying the um uno since none of my interfaces did the job ...
Anyway, it’s now fully updated and I’m having a lot of fun with it
The availability and quick reaction of pandamusic support team is greatly appreciated
I started a duo project with my drummer, we have a blast jamming together, i will post some music as soon as something is good enough to be heard ;-)
Finally, a question about the right display digit flickering that I have from time to time, apparently due to the power supply
I use a fuel tank jr, supposedly a good ps so could this be the problem ?

It is probably the knob sitting in between positions and not a power issue. Turn the knob slightly and flicker will stop

I have been searching for a synth pedal for my 5-string that creates the deep, clean synth sounds like Bruno Mars and other funk songs. I just listened to a bunch of YouTube demos of the Future Impact 1 pedal. I learned is a throwback to the Akai Deep Impact pedal. The Future Impact pedal is the closest to what I have been looking for to get the funk synth sounds that keyboard players can get. Is this the best bass pedal to get that deep funky synth sound? Thanks!!

Just received my FI last week! Despite wanting to break it out this past weekend, I realized it was a pedal I'd not only have to learn to program, but also play, properly, in order to get the most out of it. I'm seeing several demo videos, and the tracking on most of them is spot on. I'm wondering (and apologies if this has been covered before) if there is a specific setup that will maximize the tracking ability on the pedal. Especially interested in everyone's pickup usage, as in bridge or neck, active or passive, preamp or not, as well as string type, and whether anyone has successfully used a compressor before the pedal, in order to send it as uniform of a signal as possible. Thanks a bunch!

I've quickly learned that! I've had the best luck using the neck pickup, and using the onboard pre sparingly, while also cleaning up my plucking. Didn't know if there would be any advantages/ disadvantages to the kind of pickups used, or if using flatwounds would give more fundamental, and therefore, in my mind, less "info" for the pedal to turn into potential glitch sounds.

Don't overthink it. Just tailor your playing as much as possible to the capabilities of the effect and enjoy what it can do. It's an pitch tracking device, so it needs a clean, monophonic pitch to detect.

Foam muting, compressors before, noise gates, different strings, yadda yadda won't provide any added benefits if you can't provide the clean monophonic playing technique first.

So, what I've found to be most effective in playing fast with the FI is playing with free strokes/avoiding rest strokes ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]). I get less glitched notes using free strokes but it requires some modification/practice if you're a rest stroke kind of guy/gal....

Interesting, as free strokes can make more unwanted noise, as you don't dampen the string below, and the lower harmonics of the note you play can make the string below start to ring.

I also have difficulties in playing faster lines, though I think my muting technic is the best I use floating thumb to dampen the lower strings. A very good jazz musician who is also dampening in every way possible had difficulties playing perfect 5th interval without glitching, which was not hard for me to play.

I've found that seting the "note on/note off" level to 1/1 made the tracking best, and glitching the least.
How do you set those parameters?

I believe my note on and note off are still set the same way it came from the factory. I also successfully use a muting technique as well with the FI, and sometimes use a fret wrap. I’m able to play fast lines, octave jumps, etc, but of course this is patch dependent. Please understand that not all patches react the same so sometimes the glitching you may get is not due to faulty tracking in the FI, it’s due to how the filters, envelopes, decay, etc are set in the patch.

I will say I have found if I lean a bit too hard on the string when muting I could get a false trigger, so I am careful of that.

Honestly for me I haven’t really had issues with tracking. I guess I’m just lucky that my technique just so happens to work well with the FI. And when I do get some glitches, it’s usually due to my improper programming of a patch (envelope filter needs adjusting, etc). Other times it’s usually due to me leaning on a string too heavy or just getting a little sloppy with my technique.

Glad you figured it out. I still have not updated my firmware from I believe 1.22. I never tried the web interface yet. Speaking Fmfor myself, I just think the upgrades so far really weren’t attractive enough for me to upgrade.

Web interface didn't work for me either (Chrome/Mac OS X El Capitan). It got to the point where I was asked to choose a midi interface from a list, but the list had noting in it.

The failure I referenced above ('connecting to FI ..') came from the FI Editor.

Speaking For myself, I just think the upgrades so far really weren’t attractive enough for me to upgrade.

Hmmm, maybe I should check the features before buying myself a new midi/usb cable.

So please, Mac / El Capitan or Sierra Users: what usb/midi cables (or interfaces) are you using successfully ? Any chance an M-Audio Uno or Roland UM-one Mk2 is doing a good job for you, as those seem to be reasonable prices ?

BTW I have seen the list at Support , I'm specifically looking for Mac experiences.

I have an M-Audio Uno and it stopped working for me at Sierra. I purchased the Roland but haven’t tested it yet.

Yep my M-Audio Uno stopped working too; I had to use a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 which worked fine.
