It’s the last patch you made an edit and save to on the pedal. So choose your patch, turn the encoder so the dot blinks, turn it back to the value you want for that parameter, press the encoder to save.

You might need to set the tuner base to 440Hz. It should be set there by default I believe but I remember when I loaded a new version of the firmware it wasn’t. You’ll need to use the boot menu to change it (hold left toggle button while powering on). Cycle through to the TBS option, turn the parameter knob away from minimum position to see the display then turn the encoder until it displays 440.

@Andras Szalay could you check that tuner base defaults to 440 when loading new firmware?

I feel like the instructions actually suggested 440 Hz wasn't the default, I haven't tried this yet but the instructions made mention of this and it seemed odd to me. Someone can confirm.

The default is 440, but to get the default you have to perform a reset in the global options. Since in this software version for a new parameter a new memory location is used that was in unknown state before, it cannot be guaranteed that it will be at the default automatically. I did not encourage in the description to perform a reset, because probably you do not want to clear all the modifiers of all your programs. I will warn explicitly in a new description (and in the 3.00 manual) that after a software update you should either perform a reset, or set this parameter explicitly to 440, or whatever you prefer. This is actually also valid for BASS/GUITAR mode (which is BASS as default), but this will be most probably anyway in BASS after the software update.

Initial reports from the new firmware? So far, so good? Install was a breeze?

Been really busy but hoping to have some time this weekend to look into an upgrade...any initial reports about the new functionality are encouraged. Also curious where I can find the most detailed information on the MIDI implementation? I have the user guide but there wasn't much listed. Obviously I know that a PC will jump patches, but are there ways to assign cc's to expression pedals so that I can add sweeps to my patches? I'd love to spend some time experimenting with the editor looking for cool new ways I can use the pedal while exploring what the new firmware is all about. I just integrated an ES-8 into my setup and would like to program that to control the Future Impact.

There are already CCs that control volume and the filter sweep, my understanding was that this will be a major feature in 3.0 - "flexi controllers" I think they are being called?

I upgraded to the new firmware. Have to admit it took a few times though. It didn't work for me through the editor. I kept receiving a message that the FI wasn't present yet I was able to edit patches through the editor so I know it was communicating with the editor.

I then reluctantly tried it through the browser which I was a little nervous to do. I'd much rather do a firmware upgrade through software on my computer than rely on an internet connection via web browser (chrome). I had the same problem as I did with the editor. Then I realized I had to give permission to the panda webpage to allow midi communication with my browser. Once I did that, all was good.

I instantly backed up all of my patches, yet I did not have a chance to audition to test the back up patches to see if they sounded exactly the same. I did notice a tracking improvement on some of my patches. I'm not sure if I was imagining it, kool aid, etc, but Andres did mention they improved on it so perhaps my experience was accurate.

I did not test anything else.

That’s right, V3 will enable you to control all sorts of parameters via midi CCs. I’m trying to create patches that route the mod wheel to various parameters (envelope depth, resonance, LFO frequency, etc.) so that stepping on it produces radical but musical changes. If you use something like an SA Hub then you can specify what CC the expression pedal and Hot Hand X and Y axes send out. I’m also routing cool stuff to aftertouch which you could use a Hot Hand (or other device) to control.

You find the MIDI implementation of 1.22 in the manual at page 13. Additional info of the current 2.20 is in the v220 document. CC66 is on/off, CC69 is flip on/off.

Off topic, but how do you like the EBS multi comp into your FI? I have one coming as I want to even out the sound going into the FI and my OC2, plus I have been working on a project that has a lot of slap in it, and I like a little bit of control there. I’m hoping I can dial it up for something to cover both things and just set and forget. Is that your experience?

My EBS is on the older end...Ive had it on my board for ages. I have been tempted to try others but I love it so much and it sounds great (it adds a hint of color to my tone as well). It evens out my playing and notes track awesome w the future impact. I am very happy w that part of my setup and would recommend it.

I have also been experimenting w adding my ampeg octave after the FI and it sounds killer w the synth over the top.

I am still struggling w the MIDI implementation. Looking through the guide I can only find a handful of commands. PCs seem to be preset # +1...on and off work fine but how do you commit a patch when decrementing w CC 67? I tried CC 66 (>64) but that didnt work. I also see reference to program up command but couldnt find the CC for this. I feel like there is a table in the documentation or something that I am just not seeing? I found 7 total CC's listed in the guides and a mention of PCs to set presets.

Is anyone having success sending CC values w expression? That's my next step but first want to get the basics working w my ES-8. Currently I send a PC followed by the on CC to trigger patches directly...I can get it to scroll backwards but not commit the change.
