I really want one of these but alas I'm broke at the moment of course.


I actually prefer side jacks as well. To me it makes routing way easier. I don't have to worry about pedals hitting the one about it and I'll have more room if I'm using a more cramped board.

Just how I felt. I'll use whatever.

Good points. Here are some other points to consider.
Most pedal builders want to keep the stomp switches and control knobs as far apart as possible for obvious reasons. If you try to keep a low profile enclosure (thickness of the box from the pedalboard surface) with top jacks, you may have to move control knobs closer to the stomp switches. Some builders will go with thicker profile enclosures to keep the jacks on top and to keep the controls away from the stomp switches... some do not like the thicker enclosures or the thicker enclosures interfere with their pedalboard lid. Some builders will use longer (larger) enclosures to keep the profile (thickness) low with top jacks, which kinda defeats the compactness goals of having top jacks.

Some pedals have two stomp switches placed near the corners of their enclosure. If adjacent pedals also have stomp switches in the corners then they could be too close to operate without a hassle if they are butted up against each other. So top jacks on these pedals wouldn't have given you much since you may have to space them apart anyway.

Everything has to be a balance of compromises and no design will satisfy everyone's needs.

That's why pancake plugs are so great!!

That said, the only reason I gig more with my Cali compact comps than I do with my FEA comps (which I think sound better) is that they have all top jacks. I love everything about your pedals but I really dislike your choice of top power with side jacks.

It's great that you have found a format that makes gigging better for you.

From what I understand, the jack placement for this Fuzzrocious pedal (with top power jack and side signal jacks) was because they asked for an opinion from their fans and users. So this builder gets two thumbs ups from me for being willing and able to accommodate whatever format was most popular.

Yes. Right now it is dimed. Gently turn it counterclockwise to taste. Be careful to not overturn or it will break.

Side jacks and top power are literally the worst of both worlds. I can't believe anyone would ever vote for that.

The sidejacks power-top paradigm must be abolished. Most guitarists are slow to adopt new ideas, from what I've seen.


I get different strokes for different folks, and I didn't care about where jacks were until I started to really get into pedals and accumulate a few. While I understand all the trade-offs, ie why pedals are still made with sidejacks, I've come to realise top jacks are best for me.


Alas, I still have many pedals wasting space on three of their sides — let the rehousings begin!

Since I bought one I guess I'm not the right guy to answer but thought I'd throw my opinion out there since this tangent discussion has some legs in this thread.

Been using lots of effects for years and have never once considered placement of jacks when making a purchasing decision. Between pancake cables and DIY cable kits, I've always been able to fit what I want on my board. Sometimes I have to get creative with pedal placement but I can't imagine not buying something that will give me an amazing tonal option because of jack placement.

I'm one of those people who don't give a poopie about side jacks, so for me, while I've resolved to buy one of your pedals someday, it's a matter of funds and need of a fingerstyle demo for the Lunar, since clipping/dirt with fingers sounds a lot different than it does with a pick.

I meant people outside of the TB realm, the non-gearheads that don't frequent forums such as this one, the people that are bedazzled by bells and whistles and mega-buck marketing campaigns.

No, I'm up in Brisbane (10 hour drive), but good to know for next time I'm in Sydney.

Unfortunately there's no good pedal stockists in Brisbane. Probably doesn't help that I generally buy direct for the builder or from Prymaxe. People I know that buy local generally have the more mass produced stuff too. Which I'll probably do if Deluxe don't have any left next month.
