G. Gould Club!

Update - Great news. Seems the neck had absolutely no relief in it. 1/4 turn of the truss and we are looking and playing fantastic! Going to bring her out to the show tonight and give her a 3 hour workout!

Ok, so since my request for a member number (even with Geoff’s supporting post) went unanswered, I decided to find out why.
It seems that numbers were a thing way back in the pre-2016 GGC days, but haven’t been issued or discussed since. At that point, they were still in the single digits. So I spent an hour or two combing through old posts tot try and fill in the blanks. (I would have used that time to play my GGi5, but I’m out of town with only a travel guitar, so...).
There is one major caveat and I took one minor liberty. The caveat is that there are a few names, Bob_Ross and others, who are not on the list. That’s because I couldn’t figure out if they were owners, friendly modulus people, or just interested bass players. The other thing is, I gave myself #23, which is just slightly out of order. I did so not because of Michael Jordan, but because the number relates to my first dead show in ‘88 and it was only 3 spots off.
Obviously, if someone else has a more official/complete list, that’s great. If not, let me know you want one and I’ll get you a number from my reverse engineered list. Given that Geoff’s serial numbers are in the 1300s and the club is still less than 30, I’d say there are many, many people who’ve been too busy playing their Goulds to go on the internet. Either that, or pnutz has a much more extensive stockpile than he admits.

I happy to maintain the list and give out numbers. I’m just concerned that kind of title’s likely to go to my head. Now I’m gonna spend the rest of the night designing my business cards. How do I turn this into a watermark....
Does anyone off the top of their head know what size allen wrench the ABM bridge uses for the saddle adjustment?
1.5mm (abm bridges are made in germany so they use metric hex screws).
I am putting together a little tool kit. The truss rod is a 4mm, and now I can pick up a 1.5mm for the bridge. I am going to pick up a side cutter (small one) and add a small screwdriver. My Mono case has a spot to keep tools!
That’s a good idea. I have gone back and forth with that stuff - keeping the tools for each instrument in their respective cases is probably the way to go.
I’ve gone too far the other way - I now have a small toolbox crammed with a full standard and metric hex set, two cutters, several screwdrivers, plus a soldering iron, solder and de-solder, every conceivable replacement screw, 500/250k pots, an input jack and 3-4 random capacitors. It’s great for tinkering at home and doing setups/repairs for my friends, but every time I open that box, I think - when did I accidentally become a guitar tech?
Ha! I used to own a similarly green Fender Elite Precision Bass II that I always referred to as “The Official Bass Of The Boston Celtics”
