Back in post #104, there was a pic of a bass with black hardware. Does anyone know if they are still offering that as an option? It isn't listed on the website.
this is what I would go for:
M2500, ash w/honeyburst finish, rosewood fb, black hardware... mmmmm

I picked this up recently, it's a mid 90's L2000 body which was mated with an early 80's SB2 neck. The neck had been stripped, looks like it was painted black at some point, stripped again and refinished. I decided to remove the most recent finish and the remnants of the black still on there and apply a wax finish. It's a great feeling neck and straight as an arrow, but it took a bit of work to clean up.

The original nut was cracked so I installed a brass nut I had to hand which was a perfect fit, also did a fret level, crown and polish and finished it with the same wax my Streamer is finished with. It feels great now. I stripped and cleaned the body and parts too and, after a good set up, it turned out very nice indeed.

I like it a lot :D

I brought my ASAT to my gig last night with the intention of playing it for a bunch of songs but more than likely switching it out in favor of a lighter bass at some point.

That point never came. These things so SO frickin' good. I was in tone heaven all night playing through my 800RB and a pair of Bag End S15D's.

One of our buddies who plays lead guitar for a famous singer was hanging out for the night. He came up to me a few times to say how great I sounded, and then he sat in for a few songs. It was an awesome gig!

I think I'd like one of the new M series basses.
Now that that's a Tribute line, I could even "try an M2500 cost effectively"....

Are there sound clips of these anywhere?

I don't own an L2X00 anymore; they're just too wooly for me, having turned into a nearly full time active Jazz guy (Sadowsky, Nord/Alleva).
It would seem with the new pickups, and three band eq, I could cut some mids, and perhaps boost treb/bass a bit, and get into J-bass sonic territory...maybe?

I don't see Tribute M2500's f/s anywhere yet.

thanks for any info/comments

Thought I would add another pic from the seller. He really took some gorgeous pictuires of this bass. I'm happy to say it plays as nice as it looks - and it is incredibly light!
