Here are my two (for now).
A red Lynx and a Blueburst Tribute L-2500
Lynx is the Jazz tone I've always wanted but never got. I like the simplicity of the controls and I wish G&L still made these!
L-2500 is the reason I switched to G&L. Gets all the tones I am looking for. Not copping another sound, just utilize the ones it uniquely gives me. Also it's strung with GHS Precision Flats. Lynx has DR Fat Beams (I think) but will be replaced with GHS Black Nylon Tapes.
I've already purchased an El Toro and my custom USA L-2500 (QMT, Blueburst, Natural binding, ebony board, vintage frets, K-wiring) is on the way. Probably going with GHS Pressurewounds on these.

Man the M-2X00 Tributes seem so nice! My only problem with them is that they didn't get released a bit earlier!
I bought my Tribute L-2000 just two months ago, but I would really like the M-2000, especially with the 1 5/8" neck. The honeyburst finish is really nice to!

I just scored an L-2000 Tribute carved top for $100 off MAP with a pre-Independence Day coupon at Sam Ash Direct. It's the one with natural finish with rosewood fretboard, and the last one they had in stock of either versions.
Is G&L discontinuing the carved tops? I notice they're not listed on the G&L website, although you can still find the page via google.
Mine should arrive Saturday--just in time for my vacation.

I just posted this as a thread and realized that I might get more answers here.
I recently got my first G&L, a L-1500, and I blown away by the quality, price and pickups. I mean seriously, I paid $600 and the build quality is easily as good as the Sadowsky Metros I've owned and its better than most of the boutiques I've owned.
I am now on a quest for a Wunky as I am P-bass man at heart and love single pickup basses.
I just found out that it switches between parallel, single coil and single coil with bass boost, but there's no series option. I only use series on my L-1500 and with the pickup being in P position on the Wunkay, I don't understand why there wouldn't be a series option.
Long story short, too late, is it possible to rewire the switch to have a series option? This is probably an easy answer, but I no nothing about electronics and wiring.

Personally, I like the bass boost better than series, but if you feel otherwise, turning the bass boost to series is extremely simple.
If you open up the control cavity of an L1000, you'll find the back side of the pickup mode selector switch. You'll find a 0.1uF capacitor between two of the switches terminals (this should be obvious - it will be the only component aside from wires soldered to that switch).
Simply remove the capacitor with a wire cutter, and you've got series/single/parallel switching.

Is there any way to change the plain single coil to series so I can keep the single coil with bass boost? That's what y'all refer to as OMG mode, right? I like the way parallel sounds, series is where my heart is and everyone raves about OMG mode. I'd probably use that more than just plain single coil.

Interesting question. Someone might be clever enough to figure out how to wire up the existing switch for bass boost/series/parallel, but it might be easiest to swap out the volume or treble pot with a push/pull pot that can switch the bass boost capacitor in or out.
That would give you (series or bass boost, depending on push/pull pot setting)/single/parallel.
Maybe someone can comment if there's sufficient clearance inside an L1000 control cavity for a push/pull pot.
I thought about doing this with my L2500, but there's not much room in there with the preamp that you don't have to worry about in the L1000.

After stringing the bass with Tapewounds, it SINGS! I've played exclusively with rounds for over ten years and only dabbled with flats once before. Now with the precision flats on the L2500 and the tapes on the Lynx, I don't want to go back! Hopefully my El Toro comes in tomorrow so I can string her up with the pressurewounds to compare.
The Lynx is by far the best "Jazz" bass that Leo ever designed. I wish that the JB-2 just used two SB-2 bridge pickups so it was like the original SB-2/Lynx. BTW, levers and switches suit me more then blend controls, so I'm in heaven with G&L!

It arrived and I'll be playing it tonight... review to come.....
The scratch is big but there is no effect on the playability or sound....

So I played the Trib. L2500 last night. WOW…. right out of the box (I had to tune it 1st… it came slack tuned) the action was Soooo good (I did add a little relief, loosening the truss rod 1/3 of a turn) it has THE BEST ACTION OF ANY BASS I'VE EVER OWNED IN MY 45 YEARS OF PLAYING ! (YMMV) (or would the be "Your Bass May Vary")
Right away (Playing through my GK 1001 RBII with all EQ set at 12 o'clock and one NEO 1X15 cab) the guys in the band were impressed.
By the end of the 1st set I was floored, so versatile, so clean. I had thought about the settings I'd use on one song before I even had the Bass and they worked PERFECTLY.
It was a little difficult to switch the settings on the Bass while playing, but I usually use one setting per song so I just need to set in advance and count off and play.
It's very responsive to right hand technique and the action was so fast & low I sometimes choked playing… it was like "Bass shouldn't be this easy to play"

All in all the Bass is a keeper.
Part of the reason I wanted to get a G&L is my other Bass has a 35" scale and the neck is quite wide. I was finding my left hand felt fatigued after about an hour and a half and then for the next day or so it would be sore enough to have me popping ibuprofen all day. In contrast, after last night (3 hours of playing) it feels like I didn't even have a gig, effortless playing and no after burn ??? I'm sold 100%.
