first time i've encountered this, it's also my first g&l. have had it almost 2 years and im still learning things about it. glad i have the collective knowledge of this board to help me out, otherwise it would've ended getting traded in or sold.

turns out this bass likes the pickup buried into the body. it's still plenty loud and the E-string came back to life. ...

Glad to have helped! I have noticed this problem to some degree this problem to some degree on many a bass, but apart from my Darkstar equipped bass, my G&Ls have been the most sensitive to it. Fortunately I find they also tend to sound a little more open and less compressed with the pickups adjusted down a bit from "normal".

I have had a few G&L Basses and I have always loved them. I would like to have another one of these days, like a Lynx or an Eltoro. The new SB-1 looks great as well, but.....What are they thinking with the screw on serial/model plate on the back of the headstock these days ?

I just received this SB2 1983 bass from TB guy. Im so impressed. This is my second G&L after L1000 1982. I love wunkay, but this bass is something special.
It is so easy to play it, this SB2 is a total awesomeness. I just cannot believe it. This was called School Bass, but it looks like the best bass I've ever had, and I have had lot of them already.
This is crazy.

I had one of those back when they first came (I did buy it new)out I think mine was an 82, it had a Maple neck (Like yours) and a Black finish body. I wish I still had, great Bass.

Take a Fender, they did the other way round on PBs (and Telecatsers)...

I tried to turn the keys for a quick tuning, but she said I was playing and breaking the rule... so, plugging it ? no way I fear before the clock rings for midnight on the 24th...
