But seriously, the Tribute wins here, but with a catch (or two): I don't play fretless all that much, and the USA L2K has some ski-jump in the neck. I've spent way more time playing the Tribby, and it was set up really well when I got it. I love all three, in any event.

I've only got one G&L (US L2K with #8 neck, matching headstock, and K wiring) but thinking about adding an L2500 at some point.

I got a question. Some guy called me asking about three way position switch in my L1000. He also has L1000 from 80's but is assuming that his bass is loaded with two way posiotion switch. I told him that something must have been changed in his bass. But just found this:

OK. I've had my Black Burst M2500 up the classifieds now for a bit. I've received some really nice offers. But the thing is I played it again tonight and frankly just love the tones from that thing. Man...

So I'm having second thoughts about letting it go. But I can always order another one right? It's just that my GAS has gotten the best of me and something has to go. Dang. What to do.
Just when I think I can let it go I come back to this forum, read all the hype and then go play it and believe the hype because my ears tell me so.

What to do G&L people. What to do.

I see your M2500 has just been sold... and you still have a Jabba 5 for sale/trade.
How do they compare ?
Before ordering, I was hesitating between a Sandberg TM5, a Jabba 5 and the US M2500.
I missed an incredible opportunity for a red Jabba 5 six months ago. I tried it but was not too happy about the neck (too wide ?).
Finally got a very attractive price for the G&L, but I still would like to know...

With the Jazz, with the two volumes on equal positions, it's hum cancelling.
You can find an M2500 (US or Tribute) almost everywhere in Europe, starting with Thomann. But I ordered mine from the US.

True for Jazz pickups/volume pots but we were discussing the Precision style split pickup.

I know you can get the M series in Europe, but I am not ordering one from Thomann. The last item I got from them was obviously a returned unit (with a fault that I fixed to save the hassle of returning it). If I am buying one new I would prefer to go and check it out myself.

Different animals. My Jabba has over $500 in electronics upgrades in it. Audere 6Z preamp and Delano humbucking Jazz picks. That's some pretty high end electronics there. The preamp in the Jabba provides like 6 different basses in one. It's way more versatile than the M2500. With the 6Z you can go from nasally to big and fat with the turn of the 6 way dial. The Delano's are hot! High output and quiet.

The neck on the Jabba is wider than the M2500 and the string spacing is 19". Personally, I prefer that. The fingerboard is almost totally flat unlike the M2500. It's a bigger body than the M2500. Both are very well made.

Both sound sweet. Big sound = M2500. Far more versatile = my Jabba with electronics package.

I need to read up in this club. I joined just a few days ago with a Trib JB-2. This bass is lovely! :hyper:

The frets were a little rough on the edges, but not anymore.
It is exacly what I was looking for.
Are there numbers in this joint? :)

So I have an l2k, but I only have a gig bag, I'm not home at the moment so I cant measure my bass. Does anyone know if a "generic" hard shell case will fit a G&L? I feel like my bass is slightly longer than others (fenders etc) but I Haven't measured it so I could be wrong!

also any recommendations of cases would be nice, haha.
