I've had stacked volume on my L2000 for years, and on my old L2500 before that. I love different blends of the pickups on that bass and consider it vital for the sounds I prefer on it. I used 500K stacked pots for volume and a 500K on the Treble to help bring back a little lost treble from adding the extra Volume control. My "OMG" is also a push/pull selection via the Treble control- it changes the Series mode on the switch into OMG when pulled out. I also have seperate coil switches for each pickup, mostly so I can blend OMG on one pickup with Single Coil from the other. The way OMG works, as long as you switch the orientation of the coils from one of the pickups when you wire your switches it is hum-cancelling with both pickups on and partially hum-cancelling when blended with single coil from the other pickup.

Hi all,

a two parter...

a) Has anyone put a thumbrest on an SB-2, and if so can they post pics?.. I have found the neck pickup so far to be a not great landing position for the thumb..such that when i have been jamming with friends I have been using the pick..

note: certainly willing to accept arguments to the effect of "stop the whining and get used get used to it.." too..lol

and b) rather than a stacked pot, has anyone done a volume, volume & tone mod and relocated the output jack?..( a la JB-2)

I just picked this beauty up last weekend. A 1999 G&L LB-100. The build quality is amazing, and man, does this bass sound nice!!

I'd been wanting a P Bass (again—it was my first bass) for a long time, but I was pretty disappointed with the build quality of the new USA Fenders coming out... and their MIM and Japanese lines weren't even worth considering. Then this one pops up on kijiji at a great price. I'm glad I was patient!

I even got the original warranty and registration card (he never registered it), the owners manual and the certificate of authenticity signed by Leo's wife... extra bonus!!

Hey guys I have a question.I am going to be picking up another L-2000 in a few days.It has a #7 neck which I understand is a standard size on the basses.I thought the # 12 was the thickest radius at the nut,but after going on the site it looks to me that the # 7 is the meatiest.Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Ah- for some reason I was thinking you were comparing the #5 and #12. The #7 is probably what most of the L2000s in stores are sporting. The #12 is the profile that is coveted on lots of older G&Ls (my 1982 L2000 has the 1 5/8" nut and I prefer it to a standard Jazz or P width). I got my numbers all confused, so ignore my previous post. You are correct that the standard #7 is the widest necked 4 string profile. Man I'd love an SB-2 with a #12 neck...

So I just bought my first G&L bass. It's
1993 SB-1. I love the feel of the bass.
It plays like butter. The mfd pickups sound
great and are very hot But! In my band
I have always played my Fender Mia 2010
P bass. I used the the SB-1 the other night
at a gig and I think the Traditional P bass
sound works best for my. What I was thinking
of doing is putting a stock Fender P pickup
in. Has anyone done this and how did it sound?

if you are used to max'ing the volume know that the mfd get more bite as you dial in the volume.. try backing off to 50% or even less.. the growl dies off and you can always add a bit of tone cut too.

Need a bit of help here guys just received a 5 string L2500 Tribute off ebay and its got a neck like a banana, have tried adjusting with the truss rod{I know what I,m doing} and its just seemingly spinning around and having no effect, obviously it has quite high action and is impossible to intonate.
Any quick remedies or do I start the ebay war with the seller?

This project took months, but it's finally complete. G&L L-2000 Tribute (carved top) with a fretless Moses graphite neck. Steve at Moses let me choose any inlay for the headstock, and I picked an mop maple leaf.

So far it plays really nicely. It's my first fretless instrument. I'm still fiddling with the amp setting, but getting good tones and learning the intonation.

Very cool! I always wanted to try a Moses neck on an L2500.
