My '62 Jazz has sported a white pg for so long that most other colors make my eyes squint and water. Like the tort, or the fully nekkid. But I gotta say that black blends in pretty darn good! Enjoy.

Thanks man! I have to admit I was totally inspired by the current Fender "Dark Night" color scheme, or whatever they're calling it.
I've always been a fan of torts...not in every case, but in many, and this is one of them. What a beautiful bass.

Is there a place to order Tribute JB pick guards or is it just a custom pg place type thing?
I kinda dig the no pick guard look of it.. but all three are nice too
I'm considering something. I played a July 4 dance on Sunday (Now there was a coincidence, right?). I took my LB100 and my SB-2. I played them through a Trace Elliot Transit B preamp direct into our system, which has a pair of subs. I was playing my SB-2, and at the 2nd set the sound man, apparently liking the sound, cranked it up way too loud. Who can blame him, right? But this was so loud I had to turn down bass all the way on my personal in-ear monitor, and it still was loud! Of course, turning down the volume on the bass meant it affected the tone because the balance of the volume pots is what creates the tone on an SB-2. (Bending over to turn down the volume on the Transit B is a problem because I'm 70 years old with severe lower back issues so getting back up can be an adventure.) Once before, I had re-wired the SB-2 as Volume/Blend, and I didn't care for it. It seemed to diminish the gain of the bass and remove some of its punch, but now I'm thinking about doing that again. I don't want to drill additional holes or rout anything out. I want it to look exactly the same so it can be restored to stock if I so choose. Have any of you successfully done this with an SB-2, and if so, how? Any suggestions?
You can order a pickguard for a Tribute here, but you'll have to send them your old one for them to use as a template. At least I'm pretty sure you will.

I ordered this from G&L.
They orginally sent me one that didn't fit.
I griped on the phone with a recalcitrant customer service dude, and got him to send me the right one.
I've read on the pickguardian site (I think) that if you either send them your original or a good tracing of your original, they can make you one, custom.
I'm happy with this one, but think they coulda sent me the right one the first time, since they made the bass and I sent them the serial numbah.
I like that look, too, but then I was like, who do I think I am, that dude mosquito?

I got this Tribute JB when it was the Musician's Friend Stupid Deal of the Day for $299. Since then, updated it with a very old pair of new old stock Dimarzio J's (they are darker than more modern ones), updated the pots, and the tone is a push/pull for series/parallel. Also added the pickup cover. Thinking a white pearl Pickguards would look great with this color.

My SB-2 has a stacked volume/tone pot with a separate balance. Pretty easy to do. Yours would be easier since no tone.
I'd be really surprised if using two separate volumes vs one balance pot really affects tone. As a long ago electronics tech, I can't think of a reason this would be. Probably starting a religious war, but assuming the balance pot had the same max values as the separate pot and taper, it seems six of one a half dozen of the other to me.

A white pearl pickguard would look great on that color. However, with the black dots on the fretboard, I think a black, a black pearl, or a black/blue abalone pickguard would look outstanding.
Has anyone ever put an MFD split pickup into a standard P bass, so that it's not half an inch closer to the bridge like it is on the SB-1 and -2?
