For the owners of empress-bodied basses: do you notice any difference in terms of the softness of the wood? Or does the G&L finish somehow compensate for that? I've got an old basswood Ibanez and wit the softer wood, it's been dinged up pretty good over the years compared to my alder and ash instruments.

G&L also do pine bodies (seen an ad for a LB-100 recently)... Time will say...

It had been over a year since I'd taken any pics other than of basses I was trying to turn. My current set of G&Ls were all acquired since June 2014, and 3/4 from Rocketmusic.

2014 L1K from Rocketmusic's initial limited run. Very nice.

2015 empress-bodied SB-2T (factory tone & side jack) from Rocketmusic. 7.8lbs feels like a feather.

2015 Trib JB2 (in before the discontinuation) from Rocketmusic. I just seem to like the voice of a Trib JB2 over a US one. Don't ask me why.

I managed to swap out my L2K fretless for a JB2 because I wanted to go passive (maybe I should have just taken the battery out of the L2K) picked up used here. And to think I used to not like dual single coil basses.

I'm in the same boat. Too many basses. Still have my SB-2 up for sale, but I totally plan on keeping my SB-1 forever.

G&L Newbie here:

I just picked up an SB-1 Fretless on the Classifieds. It's on it's way and I noticed something as I looked at the available pictures of it: I can't find the truss rod access. I think I may already know the answer to this question, and am honestly scared to ask but; do I have to actually take off the pickguard to access the truss rod? Thanks for any info!

Since the M-series came out, the #12 (1-5/8", 12" radius) neck became standard on both the L & M series basses. When G&L had their latest price increase on July 1st, they did away with the numbered necks and also introduced the option for a 9-1/2" radius. Now you have the option for either a 1-1/2", 1-5/8" & 1-3/4" nut width and either a 7-1/2", 9-1/2" & 12" radius.

I like the necks on my 3 L2Ks but I loved the neck on my short-lived M2k. If only they made an L2K (or whatever they would call it) with the 3 band eq of the M2K!
