Perfect examples of the extremes in the fishhooks. I can live with the one on the left (LB-100), but every time I see the one on the 5-stringer, I flinch -- worried that it could somebody's eye out.

Is there any pattern there? Like, certain years had/have one and other years have the others? Or certain models? Or some other pattern?

Someday, I'm gonna have another G&L, and it would be helpful to know which to gravitate towards.

My LB is a 2021, and the K5 is a 2022.

New arrival at the Rattlesnake Redoubt. Always missed my Belair Green ASAT. 2014, Quartersawn neck with birds-eye maple board and matching headstock checks the rest of the boxes.

It's a Graphtech nut, it was an option I ordered with it, option order bass. Also has a quartersawn neck

For me the general dive point on an ASAT using a decent strap occurs when they're under 9 lbs. Also, the reach is a little longer. I've been through nine of them and currently have two semi-hollows.

The hook started in '83 and remained pointy on most of the 4s (except SBs) until 2012ish. They dulled the hook on all the US 4 strings after that. Fivers with 4+1 headstocks like the Kilo 5, L5000, L5500 and first year L2500 are pointy too. The 2500 changed to 3+2 shortly after release.

All the Trib 4s look like they are still pointy.

Decided to get back to another L2000. Had numerous ones in the past. Couldn't past up a good deal on this 86 L2000 seller needed to move to cover a project. Been there done that myself! Should be here later this week? Has a nice sunburst 3TSB,with original case. Pictures are the seller's.

I was just kidding - thanks for the information .…and yes, it would be hellish to turn that corner on a band saw, even on a scroll saw!

FYI - that assumption was just confirmed. The MFD J pickups are too tall to fit in a Fender or even in a G&L JB. They have to cut deeper pickup routes, and that's where the Custom Shop gets involved.

They had been quoting 12-18 months, but more recently they're quoting 7-8 months. I've yet to see one arrive that quickly, but I would love for it to be true.

Tribs and USAs sound the same.

Get a USA if you want a bass with a specific colour or neck that isn't offered in Tribs.

It's really that simple, in my book.

I have a Tribute L-100 (2022 model) and a Fullerton L-100 (2016 model)
They sound the same and for the money the Tribute is a real good buy. The 2016 Fullerton is Beautiful and has nice wood binding on the body and the neck is the difference. Feels a little better mainly due to rounded edges on the Rosewood Fingerboard. The frets are good on the Tribute but excellent on the Fullerton as they were Plink'd. The Electronics (pots, caps and wiring) are better on the Fullerton. The Tribute has nice Pearl like inlays on the neck. It is a real looker too!

I previously had a Tribute Fallout. Looked nice but I couldn't bond with the short neck but was really surprised it had neck dive. The OMG mode is cool sounding but having a cap accross 1/2 of the pickup which is in series with the other half does allow for a big low end but with some clarity but at the expense it negates the reverse wound sections ability to be humbucking. The single coil mode sounded good but with noise of coarse and the pickup sections in parallel was totally quiet but kinda bla in my opinion so needless to say it didn't last long. They will probably be those who disagree with my acessment of the Fallout and that is ok as everyone has their likes and dislikes. Just wasn't for me that's all.

I'm just wondering if anyone else here has had this happen...

I've had my L2K for about 4 months now, and I'm really liking it a lot. I've been really only playing that. Love those MFDs. I picked up my JB for the first time in ages the other day, and was just kinda 'meh' about the sound of it. I'm sure I'll get over it, it's a fine bass, but I'm just really into the L2K right now.
