FYI, Brazilian Cherry isn't actually a cherry species. It's a hardwood better known as Jatoba ( if you've done lots of flooring you'll know it as such)
Yes indeed! I went from four Fenders and one G&L to, for awhile, four G&Ls and one Fender. My first G&L was an L-1500, but my SB-2 decisively turned the tide because it booted three basses out of the herd including an outstanding Fender P. Over the ensuing 15 years, I only bought one new non-G&L, a 2008 Fender Jazz V, but it didn't last long after my M-2500 arrived. I now have three G&Ls, one Fender, and a Sandberg. (On the guitar side, one G&L and one Fender.)
I've been turned off by G&L's recent QC issues (which affected my 2022 Legacy HSS guitar) and elimination of neck options in the basic USA line, but I could see getting something from the Custom Shop at some point.
Fralin 10% overwound inbound for my LB100! I'm really looking forward to trying it out.
That sounds about right! I might end up going down that path as well. I hear you in the SB-2, tho I'm only familiar with the SB-1. Tons of firepower in that axe!
Too bad when they did the CLF Research models that they didn't do them in the original, preferred body shape.

I have a Fender American Jazz Professional I will not sell. It is my finest bass. I went through some G&L Tributes. They were ok but no longer have them. I do have a 2016 Custom built Fullerton LB-100 I also really love. If I ever sold either one then it is because I am out of my mind or had no other choice financially.
I haven't gone to strictly playing GL basses, but I've owned 4 (currently these 2) in the last 6 years.
I still would like a Kiloton with a P type neck spec, like my L1k.
My main favorite basses are my Rickenbacker Cheyennes I and II. And my '81 Veillette-Citron Standard.

Hey, I had that L1K for a while. BABP. One day I'll own another, but right now I'm turned on by the SB series .... and that fretless El Toro @svtbass posted a photo of yesterday is gorgeous. I've become a big fan of tapes on a fretless within the last year.
got my Fralin 10% overwind installed just now! definitely more bottom end and mid grind than the stock LB100 pickup. Exactly what I needed! sounds perfect with my tone rolled knob rolled back to around 75%
And I'm giving the cream covers a try for a bit. Undecided if I prefer them over black.

I think the cream covers look great! That's a fairly light finish, and the tort guard is also fairly bright looking with the yellow flecks in it. The cream covers are very much in line with that aesthetic.
I bet the black covers would make the overall look feel darker visually than you might expect they would. Rather than adding to the brightness of the pickguard, they might tone it down a bit and just make everything feel a bit darker overall.
Both great looks, so you have two great choices!

Decided to turn one of.my JB5 Basses into a stack knob
Just got back from band practice with this bass and oh my it growls so good now! I'm in love with the thickness and growl this pickup added to the bass. I really like the stock lb100 pickup, but this 10% overwind adds just the perfect amount of stank on it.
I've heard nothing but good about Fralin pickups, I may eventually put a pair in my JB
