Yes Fralins are very good as are Aero!I've heard nothing but good about Fralin pickups, I may eventually put a pair in my JB

My acronym translator isn't working today….BABP?Hey, I had that L1K for a while. BABP. One day I'll own another, but right now I'm turned on by the SB series .... and that fretless El Toro @svtbass posted a photo of yesterday is gorgeous. I've become a big fan of tapes on a fretless within the last year.

I always say no one does metal flake finishes like G&L, and I stand by that. But their Blackburst is also the best Blackburst out there. I have a very similar L-2500. No matching headstock but has natural binding.

That's really pretty. I do mine about once a year with ye olde F-One oil.
Lb100 with Caribbean rosewood. That's one thing I like about my maple fretboards, oil free ! Pretty board you have, what model bass is it? View attachment 5117201
Extremely, totally cool; what a great job!I picked up a beautiful Kiloton 5 from the TB classifieds with a light empress body and really liked how it played. It had a really solid tone with good definition but I also wanted some rounder and warmer tones that the single MFD pickup didn't provide for my taste, so I ordered a Nordstrand Big Rig with custom spacing to fit in the P-bass sweet spot. I had the new pickup mounted along with a stacked volume pot to avoid drilling more holes in the control plate. The wiring diagram is shown in this cross post #19:

I thought the Big Rig might not have the output to keep up with the MFD but with the Big Rig wired series and the MFD in parallel or single coil their outputs and tone blend match very well. I love what the new pickup adds to this bass. Either pickup can be soloed but for me the sweet spot is with them blended with one or the other dialed back about 1/8 turn.
Here is a play along sample through my 15" cab with Tractrix horn recorded with a Zoom H4n of my G&L Kiloton 5 through the Berg Forte HP with bass bumped, mids cut slightly, and treble flat. The Big Rig pickup in the P-bass position fattens the tone up.

I'm totally into bursts and love the finish on the SB-1, but that's a great blue on the JB, too. And the straps make them look even better. That's one thing I like about my maple fretboards, oil free ! Pretty board you have, what model bass is it? View attachment 5117201

I think I might have asked you once before what straps they are, but I'm not sure. The one you have on your SB-1 looks like it would be a great match for my honeyburst Stingray and my vintage tobacco burst Sire V5R. Mind me asking (possibly again?) where you got them?
I have always preferred a black pick-guard on a Burgundy body over white.New pickguard day.
I blame @Ricky Rioli for putting the idea in my head. Stumbled on a guard in the classifieds here.

(I need to get it in the sun for some better "after" shots.)
