Here are a few that I've collected over the years, which are pretty tough to find these days:

No, but it could have happened many years ago so I guess we'll never know. In recent years I keep it secured with an entry way lock and deadbolt.
Interesting. There was someone selling some items that looked like various leftover paperwork (like check carbon copies, invoices, etc.) with Leo's signature on it on Ebay or elsewhere I recall. Some of us including myself tracked the business down and gave you the contact details on Facebook.
If I remember correctly the folks selling those were a husband and wife team that ran a small shop of some sort.

Sorry, I'm way behind. I was just trying to figure out if I'd posted the latest video yet then saw this.
Well, I've started digging in to something kind of along those lines. I haven't measured the CLF Research drawings yet, but my impression was that Leo carried over the placement from the Sabre to the initial L-2000 as shown in the first L-2000E sell sheet (as you posted). I'm kind of enamored with doing a 2K like that with a pickguard similar to the earlier CLF pickguard shape Leo used on the Sabre. I did a bit of tinkering, placing parts over drawings and realized the CLF pickguard shape won't jibe with the normal 2K pickup placement aesthetically. So, we'd redraw the pickguard and control plate to flow with the current body lines. All this is just is just a styling vision in my head, but whether it's actually a worthwhile bass is another thing.

have you guys ever thought about doing a limited run L2K with the original pickup placement as seen in the 1980 catalog?
Based on the bridge pickup location, it seems like you could add a neck pickup to an L-1500 and call it good.

Just to be clear I am talking about the late '70s CLF 2k/sabre pickup placement. I re-read my post and it may have been confusing. Cliffs: Modern 2k body and electronics, late '70s CLF pickup placement (sabre/2k), pickguard in the CLF style, control plate (smooth, not notched around toggles). That seems seriously hip to me, like a CLF greatest hits remix. When I spend time alone in the lab I can't help thinking this kind of stuff.
Not sure if I posted this, but here's Steve doing a "sound demo" on an L-2000. Sound demo, as opposed to silent pictures, right? Well, the next one will be more technical, explaining the Tri-Tone setup and how to dial stuff in; this one's just got some cool tones.
If I say anything else I'll give it away. I hope it's one of those things that once we do it, people will think it's obviously such a cool idea they'll wonder why we didn't think of it before. Good chance you own G&Ls with all of the parts, just not on the same bass.

Ha! You're closer than you think. We've just started building the first few, two for official photos, one for video demo. If all goes well, production starts late this month and the launch goes live before the end of the month.
I wouldn't call myself cool, but I'd take one for the team...

Not anytime soon. I'm thinking more about going the opposite direction: short-scale.

I'm really not in a position to buy a new bass anytime soon. I've got my LB-100 for the old "P with flats" thing, and my two L2ks handle everything else.
But curiosity is killing me right now...

That could be a good seller. There's a pretty sizeable club of short scalers on here who would appreciate that. Plus, I'd love to raise a kid on a shorty L-2000.
Maybe with full matching painted necks/headstocks, whatever the bass may be?
You know I was disappointed. I was waiting for a year for the shop to get in the t shirts with the oval G&L logo on it. Well finally they got them in, do I ordered one, which I thought was the one in the picture. I got it and the logo was smaller than the one picture. So I called them and they told me they switched t shirts companies, and this is the one they carry now. I checked the one on the site again, and they changed it to the small logo shirt. Oh well. Live and learn I guess.
I don't imagine GAS is easy to live with when you work for G&L, eh @Darth Invader ? All those lovely instruments...
