G&L Club Part 7

Can anyone tell me if there are any major difference between the various G&L P Basses? I have a SB2 with the MFD split pickup. The pickups are brighter then most other P basses I've played. It looks like the body and neck are the same on the SB1 and LB100. Is there much of a tone difference? I've also seen a few Legacy P Basses if anyone knows anything about them. Thanks

The body shapes are a little different - the SB1 & SB2 are a little bit slimmed down wile the LB-100 is a little wider (more junk in the trunk?). The Legacy was the original name of the G&L traditional P-bass before Zon made them change it and it became the LB-100. Someone else covered the MFD (SB-1 & SB-2) vs traditional P pickup (Legacy, LB-100) difference. They also have different standard necks - the SB2 has a 1.5" nut width standard now and traditionally while the SB-1 & Legacy/LB-100 are wider.

Also worth noting about the LB-100/SB basses is the pickup placement.
The split-coil pickup on the SB and LB-100 basses are placed roughly 3/8" closer to the bridge than a standard P-bass.
The re-issue LB-100 continued with this placement for while before moving it into the "traditional" location.

Hey Rust, sorry to hear you're on that kind of list. Too often here we're on some "very important" wait list for some kind of boutique piece of gear. This is not the kind of list I'd want anybody to be on.
This is also a reminder for people to sign their organ donor cards. It can only help.

Going through G&L's site, it looks like rosewood has been abandoned.
The Tribute models now use Brazilian Cherry, otherwise known as Jatoba.

Ibanez has been using it for a number of years now as neck laminates
and have replaced the RW fretboards with it as well this year.

I am absolutely loving mine as well!! I can't stop playing it. And I agree with you guys. This thing is very pretty as well!

So I just spent about an hour playing both my L1500 and my LB100 and I must say that fat pounding tone from the LB100 is my favorite.
