Hmm... a Shell Pink JB-5 (or the fabled LB-105) might be the thing! Ever since my wife went through breast cancer 5 years ago, I've owed her a pink bass, but we haven't found the right thing yet because I want it to be something I'll use, not a token piece sitting in the closet. I've considered having my L2500 refinished, but haven't jumped on that.
Lol... As I've said, I actually enjoy the surf colors and themes... So... no shell pink for me, but only because there are so many G&L colors, and so few models to try them on! Pink is a surf color right? I agree on the G&L finish page overall. There are so many great options, it's hard to choose.

Agreed. Yes pink is a pastel, which is historically what surf colors were; Light blue, mint green, fiesta red, orange cream... Shell pink with a white pearloid guard would rule school

BTW... @lowfreqgeek I see Westone in your gear. They always come up when I search for my beloved old Matsumuko Westone basses. What's their deal? Any relation?
Ah, Westone Audio makes in-ear monitors. No relation to the old basses. I had an endorsement deal with them up till the end of last month. Still use their products, and will continue to do so. I actually need some new ear-balls, but I have other avenues to get artist pricing outside of being on the books as an "artist". But I digress...
I've been trying to talk my guitarists into using in ears for about 3 years now and they don't want to. Now that I have the Mesa PH412 and Heritage SVT, they're coming around though
Way back when I played lead in a band the bassist had a Westone (Thunder II comes to mind, would that be correct?), I never played it but was never very impressed with the sound.
I then lent him my 62P and it sounded just the same and this was through 2 different amps. I started thinking that his Westone was probably a nice bass and it was all down to his total inability to get a decent sound out of any bass.
Lol... Yes. Any Matsumoku Bass is killer... even the cheapy weepies! Westone and Aria Pro were both from them. At 40 years old, I've no doubt that even a base model from either company would be a prized instro to its current owner.
Plus, they even had a few killer models such as the rail, which had the pickup mounted on two rails and the player could slide it anywhere between the bridge and neck... Boy did it work well! They also had several headless models, and plenty of 80's hair metal models, which is how I fell in love with them.
If you were a kid in the music store when these babies were on the wall... it didn't get much better.
They were built to the highest standards and can be had in many configurations, quite cheap for what they are.
I'm finally a member of the G&L club! I've been lusting after an SB-2 for a while, and finally found one that spoke to me...in glorious Yukon Gold! It's on a brown truck somewhere between Florida and Arizona, hopefully getting here around Thursday-ish. Can't wait!
