Here's my personal experience:
I traded in my L1505 for my L2500. I loved the 1505 but wanted more options to adjust my tone and the second pup and added electronic configurations of the 2500 fulfilled that need. I can still get the exact tone of my 1505 (I made sure of that before I even played one more note on the 2500) and now I have a huge range of voices that I can create. I can't recommend the 2500 enough. The 1505 is a very strong instrument. I can't take anything away from it. I just needed a bit more than its configuration could give me.

There's a killer M in a local shop here. he doesn't put the stuff out on the floor... It stays in a warehouse, so I'm not sure how it ever moves, but it's transparent black burst with a matching headstock and stainless frets. I love the sound it makes through a tone hammer... I'm curios to hear it through my tube array.

My bass teacher has an El Toro that is much more beat up with a deep thumb gouge and worn fretboard.
Very interesting, I dig Steve's videos! I have heard some have preference for wider spacing... but there are certainly proponents for both. If G&L decided to offer a 19mm L/M2500 as an option, that would be very cool.
Thanks for sharing. I can recall that the 1500 series was generally a bit on the edgier side and that's saying a lot compared to an L2K. How do the neck ergonomics work out for you? My understanding is they have a flat radius, tight spacing at 1 3/4, and on the thicker side front to back.
Anyway, Tony's posts make me think I should just sit tight and see what G&L has in the works.
I'm patient. LB105 rumors have been floated. You guys at G&L are sick!For me, the neck is very playable. I thought that the flatness of the neck might be an issue, but it only took a few moments of getting the feel of it and I was off to the races. The thickness was fine for me. The spacing was actually perfect for me, but I also think that 4 string spacing is too wide, so please take my opinion on string spacing with a grain of salt
An LB-105 would be great, but what I'm really hoping to see is a 5 string version of the SB-2 soon!

There are definitely a lot of changes happening at G&L. I can feel it in the air, something evil is a foot. When the Kiloton came out, I was so disappointed at why they'd make such a thing. I wrote it off as their attempt at mimicking the Stingray and figured that they were just trying to be competitive. But now I get it.
Because I've always belonged to the bigger is better club, I never tried any of the lesser models, because I just always assumed that the top stuff covered what the bottom stuff could do.
That's not really the case.
Also, until two weeks ago, I thought that there was only one sound for me, and one way to get it. Now I see that that's not the case either.
Has anyone spent time on the Basses by Leo thread? I tried and it didn't really capture me, but I believe G&L themselves are quite a bit involved with it. I wish G&L would bring their pick-guard selection on par with the rest of their biz, but otherwise, they seem to be on the right track.
I've had to make a pickguard template for my SB2, LB100, and I'm sure the Kilo when it gets here. I'd much rather just buy them!

If you mean the forums at BassesByLeo • bassesbyleo.com - The Official G&L Bass Support Forum , yeah it's old tech, very clunky and sometimes hard to follow unless you know the lingo (we have our own here at TB, too). I've been able to glean a few gems of knowledge but they are tough to mine there. At TB, the community may not be as G&L specific but damn! the TB community knowledge base is virtually limitless!
... especially when it comes to which band member to fire when anything goes wrong... *eyes the drummer m0thershagerly*
