Maybe a odd question now, but would moving to a 4 or 6 bolts neck plate on a bass originally with a 3 bolt neck plate (older design, on an ASAT) improve sustain and tone and to what extent, or has impact on anything else ? Knowing it's a non-reversible alteration, would you do it?

I have (what should be) a 6-bolt Tribute neck on 4 bolts it's fine someone in the history of the world must've put 4 bolts on a 3-bolt neck I'd do it but then my stuff is less expensive than yours instruments

just wandering, are the LB-100s the same wide body shape as the early vintage L series basses?

I love my G&L tribute neck it's perfect for me 1.5" nut & satin finish & 21 frets.
They're so affordable on their website I got one loved it they sold out but now they're back so I got two more so now I have to build two more basses around them.
The neck is my favorite part of the bass.

I wouldn't do it. No benefit; there is nothing wrong with the 3-bolt. Comparing 3-bolt to 6-bolt, it looks like the 6 has a deeper neck pocket and the neck has extra length after the 21st fret.

It would affect tone, though I'm not sure in what direction. It would have little, if any, effect on sustain. The G&L Precision Tilt is a very good feature when used properly. All the neck screws really need to do is to hold the neck stationary to the body, and it doesn't take as much as you'd think. Tight, yes. As tight as you could possibly get them, not even. Read the linked post. If a neck is shimmed or tilted with an adjuster, care must be taken to NOT OVER-TIGHTEN the neck screws.

Ever since my recent purchase of this modded M2500 from TBer Bass Logic, Ive see the light of how great the M series pickups and preamp are. Im presently figuring out which M2000 I shall keep from the three I bought and will sell 2. The M series are truly sleepers when it comes to tone/quality per dollar.

I think the PG is less necessary for the look on the M2000; i play to do the switching mod on my M2000; not at all expensive to do.

I am going to do the K-switch mod on my US M2500 using TBer TorBass's schematics he posted almost a year ago...

Based on duke2004's new bass (#1), which do you think is the best design aesthetically and functionally from the panel below? I like #6. Torbass's is #4.

I like 3 and 5 if there is space in the cavity between the pots and pre.

Finally, after testing several alternatives, I have preferred #5.
Plenty of space in the cavity, and very handy.
I will post pictures tomorrow.
Actually, it is the same design as BassTor's (not #4, I was wrong, that one clashes with a capacitor on the PCB).

Definitely 6.
