Beautiful!! Hope it gets acclimated well

Well just received the L2000, and let it acclimate for about 3 hours. Going to install new battery,and put new set of Ernie Ball Slinky roundwounds strings on after I let the neck acclimate a few more hours. Seller said one of the switches was not working? After checking it is the active/passive switch. It works in the passive mode,but not in the active mode? Going to check it when I install the battery. Overall in good shape,pictures look better than looking at in person. I wanted it because of the body binding,just needs some TLC.

After opening up control plate,noticed there was no battery? Was going to put a new battery back in anyway. After replacing the battery the active/passive switch works in all three positions! All the other switches are working as they should,so no problem with switches! Yayyyy!

Not trying to bore you all with the CherryBurst L2000,but just installed set of Ernie Ball Slinky round wound strings(45-100 gauge),and strings low way I like them,without any buzzing. Relief on the necks looks decent,with the right minor bow. Truss rod seems little tight right now? Might try gradually turning later,if needed right now the relief looks okay,IMO.

Can't speak for everybody CD, but I love hearing anything and everything from guys about a new bass day!!!! I can feel the excitement of it from reading the posts. Enjoy them immensely, almost as much as my new bass days!!! Hope everything dials right in for you once it gets acclimated to the weather.... Congrats brother!!!

Anxiously waiting on the Cherry Burst,L2000 to be delivered today! Mostly because of the cold temperatures here in Central Ohio, 19 above zero! Definitely will be letting it acclimate to temperature change. Traveling from CA,to OH,and the low temperature change during shipping,makes me concerned. View attachment 3239804

I've always GASSED for a G&L with that finish. Very Nice.

Thank you,it is a player bass,needed some TLC. The wood binding makes it more appealing,and the Cherry Burst finish caught my eye! Has some dings,and scuffs,but overall a nice one. Welcome back! I think my Club member number is #554?

Is the wood binding an actual separate piece glued in place, or do they just tape off the paint job?

G&L either does plastic binding glued into place or wood "binding" which is the body wood taped off before the color goes on, then the tape removed before the clear topcoats.

How patient are you? You can find them used if you are very patient but the vast majority are 1 5/8".

Not that rare. I'm a dedicated 1.5" nut width G&L guy and I've had a lot of L2Ks over the years. For a long time 1-3/4" nut width (usually a #5 with 7.5" radius) was the standard L2K neck. Relatively recently they switched to a 1-5/8" nut width as the US L2K standard, but according to their website 1-3/4" is still the Tribute L2K standard. You can also find 1-11/16" and 1-5/8" from older L2Ks some of the time, I think.

Ordering one (I recommend [email protected]) is always sweet, but they are out there from pretty much every era except the control plate era -- I've not seen an L2K (or an L1K for that matter) with a control plate at 1-1/2" nut width. Not to say they aren't there, but I've never come across one (the same with 1st gen SB2, Lynx, & El Toro). If you have patience, you will find what you are looking for.

Have a JB in satin frost natural finish on the way. Does anyone know if I can use standard guitar polish on the satin frost finish just like I would on a normal finish?

I'd say no, polish will, well, polish the finish.
