I agree. My understanding is the single coil option turned into parallel around the time that the "Series E" disappeared in the early 80s, so well before the ASAT bass was introduced.

I was under the same impression also. Maybe someone can better explain the "OMG" switch. I assumed the OMG was the same as the SC bass boost. I really loved the tone of my 81 l2k but would love a jazz necked g&l and as old as possible. So I figured the ASAT was the way to go. Since they were the earliest g&l to have that style neck.
Jazz necked L2000s are the best!! The three on the right have jazz necks, I got the red one in 1998 and it's been in my top 2 basses since then.
The ASAT has the same guts but that short upper horn bugs me so I stick to the L2000.

OMG is like normal series but with a capacitor grounding the highs from one of the coils. I've never understood what single coil bass boost is, although I've seen it mentioned many times.

Dang it...my new-to-me green metalflake L2K (post #12858) is a wide-necked L2K beast, but now I'm going to have to get a another one with a skinny neck, now aren't I? AREN'T I? Darn it.....

I'm not exactly sure what the old circuit intailed but I loved the way it sounded in that position verses the full Humbucker.
Where did that description come from? Both coils are on in OMG mode, it's not a single coil.
Yeah, that's correct. On my L1k I've done the old tap on the coils with a small screwdriver trick while throwing the mode switch: (i) parallel both coils, (ii) single coil, (iii) series both coils with OMG cap. It's unequivocal.
Be that as it may, it was still referred to as single-coil w/bass boost.

You can get the OMG setting on CLF L-1000 now.

Yes - for L2000s they got rid of OMG and switched to the 6 bolt neck and the new body shape in 1999.

That truss rod nut is not original. Looks like a Fender 70s bullet replacement. The G&L truss rod bullet nuts had a stubbier and rounder top.
Based on the look of things, I'd guess that someone stripped the original nut and had a heck of a time getting it out... As to the splitting of the back, not sure if that's related or was the result of something else.
