Was doing a setup on my L-1000 today. Checked the coils in OMG position. For those wondering, it is indeed a single coil position.

That's what I've said too. It boosts the lows and sucks out the mids leaving no note definition.
Well, brought home my new to me 1984 Clear Blue El Toro. Pretty excited, hope the pics do it justice...
It popped up on ebay. I got in contact with the shop, and they have my amp, my 4x10, all my pedals, our snare drum, and our fender hot rod deville...
now we're just hoping the Detroit police work with us and help us get our stuff back.
Michigan has a really wacky law that says we have to buy our stuff back from the pawn shop for the amount that they paid for it. But at least we SHOULD be getting some of our stuff back.
And hopefully they can track down the guys that stole our van.

I've bought an old '83 G&L SB-2 (for a ridiculous low price, considering i'm in europe).
But I can't read the stamps on the neck, nor the one on the neckpocket because the pain got in the way.
Is there some database to check when my bass was made?
It's a red SB-2 and it still has the serial number on the bridge and the number is higher then those from 82, so I've already narrowed that down.

Try this. You should be able to look it up on this table and tell the year it was made.

My bad. There is a registry on the Bassesbyleo website. It's not very complete and it might not have what you are looking for. You might try that if you haven't already. Otherwise, I don't know what else to suggest. You could contact G&L but I don't know if they would be helpful or not.

Yeah this bass is pretty nice. Very few cosmetic issues and it plays very nice. The action is a little low so I am going to have it set up. I was watching the Climax as well. So did the sale fall through on it?
there is a cool black L1K with a maple neck in the used section of the gc website, looks pretty cool and reasonably priced, just wanted to share
There is also a very nice vintage black and maple sb1. I asked for pictures and it looks to be in good shape aside from some buckle rash on the back.
