G&L Club Part 7

I have absolutely nothing against Bryan Adams ! And your sample is exactly what I was looking for, a raw and clean take so I can clearly hear the tonal differences.

Kudos for your playing btw, very clean and regular !

Have your tried raising the bridge PU a bit ?

I've been playing with pickup height on this bass trying to get volume unity to match with my others...;). Not done yet...

these pickups are unlike any I've used before...in a good way...;)

Thanks for the compliment!

Might I suggest rather than adjusting pickups to alter the output, roll back the volume knob to adjust the output.
Adjust the pickups for tone.
The sweet spot is pretty wide with MFDs.

Message received loud and clear...;)

Weird

Sorry all! Don't know how that happened.

No worries, and you were correct.

I raised both pickups to taste and I do like the tone better. The volume didn't change *that* much. I adjusted the pickups on my Eppi VP with tone in mind this time and volume wise they are pretty close now so I'm not sweating it...

Thanks for the suggestion!

I can't find the neck specs for the LB-100 Tribute.
Is it 1 5/8" at the nut and any idea how deep at the first fret?
I'm looking for G&L Tribute quality / pricing with a P bass neck.

I'm having a very weird issue with left hand pain / cramping especially on my little finger.
My JB-2 is the most incredible value with both great tone and amazingly good neck but it or my Lakland 44-01 hurt after a long gig.
A stock precision neck is OK; go figure.

Anyone paying attention to CLF Research on Facebook....?

If they sound like these badboys they might be onto something special. Sometimes I wonder why they haven't brought these MFD singles back from the grave.

Yep... it is called Black Silver Swirl. I have a G&L catalog from when the swirls and L5500 were available and that is the correct name. Like nearly all of the swirls I have seen, that one appears to be peeling (near the bridge). The finish on that one appears to be in better shape than most I have swirls I have seen pictures of.

Cool bass. I was watching that one. I want an L5500 to add to my L5000/L2500/JB5. I would have jumped on it to add a fretless back to the stable (recently sold my fretless Growler). Unfortunately, I first saw that one shortly after I purchased my Emerald Balor Bass, so I was not really looking to make another bass purhcase.

How do you like the L5500? I know everyone says it is the un-G&L, but I have generally liked the EMG 35DC and 40DC basses I have played (which is part of why I want an L5500).

Cool. How many Swirl finishes were available back then? I know about Red, Silver, Gold....were there also Green and Blue?

So while looking through some of my music stuff today I noticed how much random G&L stuff I have. Pics below. I am curious what else is out there. Post up what you have.

I came up with... dealer poster, dealer banner, G&L branded scratch remover, a G&L keychain I bought from an Australian seller, two books, an issue of Vintage Guitar with the L5000 review, and 4 G&L sales catalogs.

It's always G&L time at my house.
