I've learned to like flats in the past few years, but I still love the sound of dead nickel rounds!
Dead nickel rounds, the new best sounding flats.
This could be the best bass demo I've ever heard.
No mindless stream of consciousness chat or little useless riffs like some of the G&L videos
No useless playing that would never be in a song or solo work without some sort of band mix.
Just solid playing with a backing track and different basses playing the same logical bass parts.

I've read (and never believed) that the 6-bolt attachment for the JB2 makes it sound different than the JB.
Could this be true or do I just hear the natural differences between 2 basses?
@lv@N curious as to your take since you were the player (as well as other opinions).
Can't say if one is better than the other and could see preferring one over the other based on the song alone.
Last question; much difference between the JB tribute and US models tone wise and play-ability?

Excellent demo! Iv@n makes them all sound great, but it still reinforces my preferences

I can't really tell if it's the 6 bolt construction or some other factors, but they do indeed sound different.
I think tonewise the JB tribute that I tested was definitely right there against the US Fullerton that I have at the moment. I really liked the sound of that JB tribute.
The Fullerton DLX definitely feels more ergonomic and it is way lighter than the JB. While both basses had/have GREAT playability, the Fullerton DLX pretty much plays itself. It's very comfortable.
If spending the extra cash is not a problem, i think getting the US version is the way to go. Way more bass for the money than a Fender J, for example.
If you just need a solid J-Bass and don't mind maybe some very minor cosmetic flaws, the Tribute JB is the way to go. Hard to beat in that price range
great demo. I was leaning toward a SB-2 but after hearing that demo I thought the JB-2 sounded amazing

What's up everyone! Long time lurker first time posting. I found this beaut in a guitar center in Hillsborough ca late 2017. Someone had ordered it off the gc web store and returned it because it had a broken toggle, Jack and was not set up correctly at all. So that day I walked in for strings I left with a new bass. I got almost all the information I need from you fine people to get it playing great again. I believe it originally was sold from rocket music.

The sonic difference between the JB and the JB2 is interesting.
The main difference between these two is the neck bolts and the size of the body...I didn't think those two factors would make that much of a difference. But I guess they do.
Or maybe they just sound different because they are different instruments with their own sonic qualities, I don't know.
Anybody own both and can compare them? I'm just curious as to whether you hear the same sonic difference as we hear on the videos.

Last year I Bought a used US JB2 online from GC.
It's the best sounding J bass i've ever owned. (And i've owned a 66,74,2013 Fenders)
It didnt come with a spec sheet, but the bass is super light, so i suspect the body is empress.
Regarding my earlier post re the Kiliton Tribute I bought, I have fitted a set of Fender flats, added a rosewood thumbrest and have sprayed the scratchplate black. The white on white wasn`t doing it for me. Using the volume around 75% and in single coil mode, the bass is now living up to the rep it gets. Looking at the serial number, I think this is a 2017 model so it had been kicking about someone`s warehouse for a while.
To be honest after reading the reviews of the latest g&l models, I`m glad I didn`t shell out for a US model. The fit and finish on this Tribute model is spot on. And I know, pics or it didn`t happen, I will sort out some later.
