Noll 500k/220k stacked volume/blend pot
Well, "work" yes-- it WILL change the loading of the circuit, as that "volume" portion is 500, (instead of 250k) and ADD a 220K pot in the load of the main circuit for each pickup. (250k volume + 220k)
That is also a deep pot stack, check the measurements to see if it fits the control cavity.
This WILL change the tone. Likely brighter.
The volume blend stack would likely be the easiest insertion point rather than to re-wire the tone circuit.
You could go with a stacked dual volume pot BUT see the issues with blend vs dual volume debate:
Blend knob vs. 3 way switch
Blend knob vs. Two volumes for signal loss
2 volumes vs. blend pot

Either way, there will be an output drop when centered (or both volumes up full) due to the additional loads.
with a stacked volume/volume you CAN balance the output, leaving the switch in place, in the middle position. Dimming one pup back from full volume.
Again: this will still change the tone and output profile due to the change in the load. (brighter)

yea, stacked volume pots would be easiest wouldn’t it? I happy to prefer blend /master volume because it’s easier to quickly dial in the sound you want independent of volume.

Luckily the L2K has so much output I’m not worried about dropping a bit of signal.

Question about the L-2500 (tribute): Mine picks up a lot of RF interference from the laptop and wireless router, but only when the pickups are aimed/pointed towards them. Is this something better cavity shielding could help or is this just a natural result of the MFD pickup design?

The L-5500 with the stock EMGs is dead silent in the exact same playing positions.

There are many instruments that will pick up RFI / EMI emanations from laptops, wireless systems, light dinners, standard TV's, etc. No experience with a L-2500 but nearly impossible to make them dead quiet with single coil pickups. Unless there is something wrong with your bass or cable, copper shielding tape is you only improvement. Do the pickup and electronics cavities and make sure they all tie to ground. Many examples on how to do this online.

Well, the quietness of EMGs is a design feature so that's not going to give much guidance. Cavity shielding should help a good deal—and G&L is notoriously lazy about doing any shielding, even in their US models. It's certainly worth a try. What kind of frequencies are we talking about in terms of RF? 60 cycle hum or something else?

@Jim C the L2XXX are all humbuckers, with a single coil tap switch circuit.
 
This being a Tribute with no documentation, I believe it is Parallel/Series switched and not the single coil mode switch option. Noise happens regardless of switches, but is loudest when set Active+both pickups enabled.
Yeah, you're right wasn't thinking clearly on that :) Series parallel.
The volume boost when set active makes sense due to increased output.
 
Hey all...strange problem. Not looking for a deep analysis but if someone has encountered the same issue and knows a quick fix, I'm all ears.

I have a rattle that, best as I can tell, is coming from the headstock of my Kiloton. I've tightened the tuners, the G/D string hold-down, checked the strap buttons, checked the truss rod, tightened the bridge lock set screw...what am I missing? It's infuriating!!

Any other ideas or suggestions?
 
Does it happen with a certain string? Or all strings?

Because I had a D string that rattled. turned out nut slot was too deep. put a small piece of paper (couple of folds) in the bottom of the nut slot to move string up a bit, and voila, the rattle was gone. YMMV.

Witness points. Look it up. There is a lot of information on TB about it and how you can solve those weird noise problems.

I had that as the clover tuner head rattled where attached to the peg. That is a solid connection that doesn’t move. A drop of crazy glue at the connecting point fixed it!

That's it! It's the E string clover. Played with it and it rocks...the others are solid. I'll try the crazy glue and maybe a note to G&L. Thanks.
